Stabworthiness aside, anonymously and thus untraceably messing with people's expensive property, regardless of whether it does any real harm, is pretty low tbf. Not only does it have to be sorted out in whatever way, but it's also a clear message that you can't trust people - who? so just everyone - and that your belongings are inherently not safe whenever.
People who don't empathise with this in the context of cars, well assuming they have nice things, either it would apply just the same to them via some other vector, or they're just lucky to not have the same public exposure.
