I'm not normally a fan of the 'racists are thick drunkards' line, not sure it's helpful. But then at 1:28...

The ones they get out for shit like this almost universally are tbf. The ones writing columns about it less (obviously) so. Although if I was Douglas Murray I'd be hitting the bottle dawn til dusk.

Watching from my living room sofa as millions of people in the country will have also been, the optics of the proceedings today could have hardly been any more positive for the pro-Palestine marchers, and any more damning for the government and the fucking Tory media and commentators.

Absolutely massive popular attendance despite sustained smear media campaign? Check. Completely peaceful and respectful demeanour by the marchers contrary to Cruella Braverman and the Tory press’ predictions? Check. The far right making themselves look like the fucking thick cunts they are? Check. Fallout undoubtedly resulting in further Tory infighting? Check.

Fuck all the fucking cunts concerned :D

Saw someone say the Mail were grudgingly saying near a million, normally I guess somewhere between police and organiser estimates but if the Mail are saying that then I'm saying 10 million, easily.

I wonder what the stats are about numbers of those who march, numbers if those who can’t/don’t, numbers who are inspired to march by other demos etc.

But the premise was so fucked in the first place.
Why the fuck would people protesting war and mindless slaughter make a detour to shout at statues and monuments that honour those killed in war.

Some bizarre leaps in logic were made - if marching in support of a ceasefire on Armistice Day is "disrespectful," then those "disrespectful" marchers must surely be hell-bent on desecrating the Cenotaph

hmm sunak commending hamas supporters on the march :hmm:

still look like trying to keep barvermen around

It's always the same kind of far right person isn't it? Fresh Fred Perry t-shirt, old jeans, look like go to League Two away games but only to get through more snow than the Winter Olympics. They never look smart do they, in an intellectual way, it's always the look of someone struggling with the pub quiz machine.

I know but it‘s just so dumb.

I know they’re dumb. In a way that’s their secret power : too dumb to know better, so on they plough regardless .
I managed to avoid the far right groups today, but there was one man standing on his own on Vauxhall Bridge Road facing the marchers with a small placard saying 'Show Respect'.

I was tempted to stop and engage. What exactly were we disrespecting?

I'm sure he would have been very confused by the perfectly observed two-minute silence at the end of the march to remember all those killed in conflicts around the world. It came directly after the reading out of a long list of names of children aged 5 and under killed by Israeli bombs in the last month, and I think it was very well-judged.

Go on, fella, explain the disrespect.

They don't know. The world passes them by as the marchers did today with Respect Man, with little engagement in either direction.

His bullshit did sound a wee bit like trying to say she'd had a point, whereas last week he was flopping about all over the place.... hate marches.... they've got a right to protest... trust the police. Wonder if he and cruella have agreed a temporary truce? At lease till Wednesday.
