Anti austerity march...urb meet up?

It's got really unclear aims (though I think I support 'anti-austerity') so I think I'll be there. I've asked the organisers what their aims are. They replied with 'no austerity'. Not sure what they mean specifically.

I would say, the anti austerity thing has only just kicked off in England due to the fact that the residents in England never had a serious anti austerity left wing party to vote for apart from the Greens. North and west of our borders they did. The Greens made a great effort but mainly took votes from tired Labour supporters who were sick of the party being Blairite or positively softcore Tory. Some even went to UKIP ffs.

Hopefully tomorrow's huge numbers will re-energise Labour/left wing supporters on the back of Corbyn being on the ticket for the leadership. Speakers worth listening to here are for me, Charlotte Church and Jezza

The aim.. If you're not trolling, is to take to the streets, en masse, and show the disgust and contempt we hold for those who are systematically killing us, destroying our services, and continually waging what can best be termed Class War against... All the while doing so peacefully and with best behaviour in mind :)

Well done for being there. If you don't understand what is meant by anti-austerity I guess you are a bit out of touch with modern politics. As you have evidently been out of the country and even Europe for some years I will explain. The march is against neo-liberal economic policies. These, in their turn are a revival of anti-Keynsian economics which were a right wing reaction against the ideas of the American New Deal. Go and read some books.

'disgust and contempt' are the two key words here, anything else I hope will be held out until a follow up demo

What measures would satisfy you?

This is coherent. What would the government need to do to satisfy you?

I'm hoping tomorrow gets tasty, personally. The sooner this shit gets splashed over the news, the better. And we know auntie beeb and the line will present their own skewed establishment take, but the beauty of modern technology is that we'll get our coverage too. The anger is bristling.... Let's keep it that way

It'd be ruddy brilliant if it kicks off. We need to put these cunts in their place: under our fucking boots.

The abandonment of neo-liberal economic policies and the restoration of Keynsian policies. This is entirely within the scope of Parliamentary politics - no revolution needed. If you want me to draw a picture you are out of luck. Go and read some books.

OK. Do you think this march will get you closer to that?

No, I know why it's been organised. What is the aim?

Because I agree with the slogan.

If this is the aim, even the Tories agree. So pointless. Can we not be clearer about our aims?

So the Tories don't believe that reducing state spending (cutting) is in and of itself a desirable goal? Really...I must have been misunderstanding all that rhetoric about making sure that 'hard working families' kept more of their money.

Cheers - Louis MacNeice
