Another firestick deal.

Ok, after some fiddling about, I'm watching the cricket!

The VPN stuff, is that an app within firestick, or a general household level VPN?

I've installed Kodi and the crew. Not done anything else yet ..
You can either download a vpn from the Amazon store for your Firestick or side load one onto it .Free ones sometimes work sometimes don’t , depends on how hot the provider of the stream you want is on clamping down on vpns . Paid ones are always best .

Anyone thinking of getting a real debrid account, something to consider.

I set up my girlfriends firestick yesterday at her house and put my R-D account on her cinema hd app. I then went home and used my firestick to watch a film with the same R-D account and I received an warning email me about sharing. You can use as many devices as you want from the same ip and you can use different ips but you can't use two ips at the same time. So we need two subscriptions, unlike netflix which allowed us both to watch at the same time from one sub.

Thanks, so approx £30 a year or roughly 1/4 a Netflix subscription. I guess that’s worth it if signing up lets you cancel a subscription to a streaming service. I’m paying for Netflix, disney+ (which we never watch!) and HBO max currently 😢
Yeah, I'd sign up if I were you, but I think you probably should have a paid vpn too if you want to be safe. Another added cost.

The free vpn I put on this is a bit crap. It's too slow to stream without constant buffering. However, I have to get up before sparrow fart for work and at that time in the morning it was able to quite quickly download a movie in acceptable definition for seamless viewing later in the day. In fact I got 3 episodes of a series and 2 films all in about half an hour, that fills the memory of the stick so it's a case of watch and delete before reup.

I think I'm going to stick to torrenting films down to my main PC, and mounting the drive in Kodi. I tried to watch The Matrix on Cinema HD yesterday, and it sat there waiting for ages.

I still torrent a lot of stuff. Mostly obscure stuff or keepers that I want in high quality, but 99% of everything I watch these days is on the Fire TV, and since getting screaming fast broadband, I'm finally enjoying watching 4k streams, which must be nice... for people who have good enough sight to appreciate it.
When I do use torrents now it's directly from the router. I used to do it from my PC until I got a NAS that'd run a torrent client, but I've done away with the NAS now, and I'm using a USB SSD plugged into the router. Unlike the NAS it's silent, which is a bonus, and I'm saving a fortune on electricity, as I used to have the PC runniing day and night downloading stuff.
I think what I'm trying to say is I couldn't go back to torrents as my source for TV/Films, as the Fire TV does an excellent job.

Kodi's now happily mounting NFS drives from the other side of the flat, and busily indexing my "movies I must get around to watching one day" directories.

And NordVPN has an offer on, so I've got myself one of them now, too.

hah yes seems i downloaded the wrong Cinema HD app - theres a few!
Got it working now!

So its finding torrents and streaming them right?

thanks all

*SO yeah a note to others who dont want to buy a firestick etc, and just want this aspect of it on a laptop, get bluestacks and then install the cinema HD app from the link.

I was following this thread and considering doing this on my PC instead of getting a firestick - is Bluestacks an Android emulator?

Also which VPN do you recommend? I don't currently use one, but obviously will need to do so if I start using Cinema HD.

Another quick question, is it possible to then cast the stream to the Smart TV via my wifi like I would if using Windows Media Player to stream something from the PC to the TV?

(It is entirely possible that I might be completely misunderstanding how all this works)

I don't think you do.

Every one of these how-to sites giving instructions on free streaming apps insist you need a VPN and each one helpfully provides links to a particular VPN service. But that's how they make money. The spammy links on those sights just scream "paid affiliate".

I pay for a VPN because I download torrents, then maybe I seed them back to others. In which case I'm literally distributing copyrighted material.

You're not doing this if you're streaming. If I didn't already have a paid for VPN I wouldn't bother subscribing to one just for streaming.

All that being said, I'm not a lawyer and it's your money!

Surely using Cinema HD to access content in this way is on the same legal footing as those torrents...

EDIT: Anyway that was not my only query about it and not really the point I want to concentrate on or discuss, I asked for recommendations for one, not a discussion about whether I needed one, plus a number of other questions.

I stopped using torrents since I moved to a full SSD build on my PC, simply don't have the space to be downloading stuff (also a gamer which takes up a lot of storage space), hence streaming is of more interest.

Mullvad then. Pay as you go, one flat rate, you don't even need an email address and you can even pay with cash in an envelope.

Yes blue stacks is an android emulator here's a list of others 15 best Android emulators for PC and Mac of 2021

You wouldn't need a VPN for Cinema HD

Stemio works on a PC and uses torrents

What smart TV do you have?

I got ipvanish via the link on the troypoint site:

I got a lot of good information from there so I don't mind contributing, and it was only $38 a year or something, which is less than 2 months Netflix. I can use it on all my devices for that too and have stuck it in my phone also. I've been meaning to get a VPN up and running for a while, so it's all fine with me. Maybe I could merrily stream for a year without it and not get any grumpy letters from Virgin, but I see no harm on flying completely under the radar.

Troypoint is very clear that he gets paid by IP Vanish.

Like Idaho, I went out of my way to buy mine through there because I get a lot of value out of the site.

Another vote for the Fire TV 4K here. Cheap, but excellent. It is quick and snappy to use.
I just use mine with Prime, Netflix, iPlayer, Spotify and Sky News apps. There is enough content on there to keep me going. If I wanted more I would subscribe to Apple TV or Now.

Just had my account suspended on real -debrid.

We regret to inform you that your account has been suspended becauce you have not considered the previous warning email that we sent you less than 7 days ago.
Indeed, the 2021-11-14 at 08:33 PM (GMT +1) we found out that your account has been used from more than one public IP address at the same time again

I can only assume it's my VPN that's causing the problem. I've opened a support ticket.

I'd forgotten how irritating streaming/downloading can be, files named completely wrong, endings chopped off, low quality copies, and last night having made it through a whole series to find that the last episode just isn't there anywhere to be found. Still, it's free sort of. Going to have to rent that last episode

Not my experience at all. Try a real debrid account.
