Amanda Knox Is Innocent

In that I'm interested in whether or not it added any credence to her original sentencing, irrespective of the fact it was later overturned.

No it didn't. She was regarded as a witness at the time so not in custody. Coppers thought her behavior a little off and from that point she became a suspect. From there the prosecutor constructed a truly bizarre sexually based conspiracy involving a cast of players including her manager at the bar as well as the actual murderer (who was tried separately when it didn't all hang together). That Knox was convicted of implicating her manager even though it was the police (who had discovered evidence which indicated a black person was involved) who browbeat her into fingering him, illustrates just how surreal it all was.

So at the very least it could be argued that it didn’t do her any favours.

Not saying the case against her wasn’t flawed, but still.

To assert that the case against her was "flawed" would suggest there was at least something resembling an evidenced based prosecution case to begin with. But there wasn't. Why so many people, who on the face of it did not have a dog in the fight, weighed in behind a visibly corrupt prosecution and by doing so, undoubtedly helped in securing a conviction is still baffling.

I suspect a lot of it was down to certain UK tabloids wanting to paint a picture about a beautiful young Brit girl slain by a couple of foreigns in a sex-game gone wrong. Guaranteed unit shifter eh.

The police got a couple of false confessions out of her and Raffaele Sollecito after some physical intimidation, and were playing them off each other. Later on they falsely told her she was HIV positive and let her sit in solitary and stew in it...

The doc features one of the leading journalists. He says with hindsight they weren't critical enough - largely because of the ingredients of the story - attractive young women, sex, murder, femme fatale.. etc. Too good to be true..

Ulimately the dna evidence was crap, the crime scene hadn't been protected properly, items taken hadn't been separated leading to likelihood of contamination. Oh, and Guede's dna was everywhere.

I wrote a song about my cat called 'Beautiful Killer' where I compare her to Amanda Knox. Which has this lyric...

You're a beautiful killer like Amanda Knox. You are tortoise shell and have bright white socks.

Good lyric.
Can't confirm the accuracy or otherwise because I've never seen Amanda Knox's socks.

But you take it at face value that the cat is a tortie?

Typical of the evidence-free, believe-what-you-like, odyssey surrounding this case

Here's the evidence.

Five years ago I paid no notice
of you and the other who's name was Otis
But since he left we've fallen in love
So lets all thank the man above

(Chorus)
Suki, Oh Suki, let me cuddle you
Suki, Oh Suki, do you feel the same way too?

You're a beautiful killer like Amanda Knox.
You are tortoise shell and have bright white socks.
I know its wrong and I should never do
But to gain your affections I overfeed you

(Chorus)
Suki, Oh Suki, let me cuddle you
Suki, Oh Suki, do you feel the same way too?

(Outro)

Suki, Suki, Suki, Suki Socks
Beautiful killer like Amanda Knox!!!!

It's a very short punk tune.

Veering dangerously close to 'calico' territory, there. I was right to be sceptical!

Definitely insensitive and unwise to have posted that. However if you spent four years in a prison for a crime you didn’t commit, then that trauma may occasionally override common sense. I’m more worried about the culture of going after “people who say the wrong thing on the internet“ and the constant fanning of our outrage culture, to be honest.

Important to note that when people use the internet to try to anonymously destroy people’s lives, it is down to empathy, compassion and a passion for social justice.

That, or journalistic standards in video game reviews.

And she wonders why everyone suspected she played some part in this? (and tbf I did but have since changed my mind)

Only seen the Bradshaw review, but that does make it sound bloody awful. Another fathers revenge movie ignoring all victims with random acts of violence thrown in.
