50 years

Quickly looks at Brian Glover's biography. I see this was his first true acting role. He was a pro wrestler before this. A lovely, witty, intelligent chap.
after years of looking I think I recently sourced a copy of his biog, still waiting delivery.

I've seen that blues team play and I saw two of them play in claret blue
That must have been during the run in to that great 1970 cup final and replay against Leeds (did it go to a replay?).

Yeah that's the season. Everton won the league. How things change eh

How cup finals change? Was that one of the most exciting ever?

Great stuff. Was refereed later and some ref reckons he would have sent about seven players off.
Iirc Chelsea and Palace met in an earlier round, I wont mention the score though :D

50 years ago this very afternoon, I remember it well. We used to be able to gather out doors, thousands of us and not all of us washed our hands all the time.

2-2 draw, first final draw for nearly 60 years.

This was in the Top 10, fondly remembered given Bob Andy passed away later week...

Also Wandering Star by Lee Marvin.

Fifty years ago today since Apollo 13 launched and the world watched in awe while a major rescue attempt unfolded.

The first two goals were incredible, even for the FA Cup Final. Great game though, I think some top ref a few years later had a look and said that there would have been about four sent off.
The usual suspects no doubt?
I remember the pitch was terrible.
O/T best wishes to Norman Hunter.

The players looked exhausted too. The pitches they played on week in week out were atrocious but this was the "Empire" stadium Wembley. Where did the empire bit come from?

I think it was from the Empire games back in the twenties. The Empire Pool too.
The pitch used to get destroyed most seasons before the FA Cup Final because of them holding the horse of the year show there.
It was a different world and game back then.
My mate Chris sobbed after Chelsea’s win in the replay. :D

I had a superstition that if I went out of the house on matchday Chelsea would lose ( I was only 10 :D). My Mum let me have the day off school on the Wednesday. It worked, we won.

Manchester City became European Cup Winners' Cup champions on this day 50 years ago. Commentator Barry Davies and the players involved have spoken about the 'forgotten final' played in strange circumstances.
