2016 album recommendations - too soon?

School Of Seven Bells - SVIIB

Just glorious. Soaring, uplifting, emotional, beautiful pop. A stunning tribute/goodbye to Benjamin Curtis.

Great recommendation- That & A Sagittariun- Elasticity are the 2 best electronic LPs of the year (which I've bought). I have yet to hear the new D'Atachi LP in full.

I've just been listening to the D'Atachi album this morning - but in a distracted way - so I need to give it a proper listen....

Never heard of the other thing you mention - will have to check it out....

Subrosa - For This We Fought the Battle of Ages.

Pitchfork really like it, for what it's worth. Maybe it'll grow on me but it's sounding a little light so far. Nothing with quite the disorientating grind of Affliction from their last album:

Angel Olson's new one, My Woman, out in a day or two. Sample tracks on her website sounding great.

Got it yesterday. It's good. Crisper arrangements/production than Burn Your Fire, makes everything feel a bit more urgent. Her voice sounds different too, but still recognisable and still awesome to behold.

A Cocteau Twins influence is detectable in places, particularly on the track 'Woman'.

Been listening to D'atachi non-stop. Really grown on me.

Yes - the D'atachi album is definitely floating my boat. It whisks me back to the golden days of incessant dope smoking whilst listening to nothing but Warp/Rephlex/Planet Mu stuff. Love it....

Exactly- but all done on 1 synth. Have you got the bonus cd as well? It's as good as the main tracks on the album.

Warhaus - We Fucked a Flame Into Being

Not much on Youtube. The main influence on this one is fairly blatant. Touches of Lou Reed, Talking Heads, Beck and others on other tracks. I think it's much better than singer Maarten Devoldere's day-job band Balthazar.

Wovenhand - Star Treatment, out today, although it seems only five minutes since Refractory Obdurate came out. You can stream it (/all their albums) here.

I've just pre-ordered the new Ex-Easter Island Head album - you can hear some of the tracks on their bandcamp. I saw them a couple of months ago doing it live and it was the best thing I've heard so far this year - they use electric guitars in new and unusual ways to make minimalist / gamelan style percussive music.

This sounds right up my street, will give it a listen later.

The new Metallica album, Hardwired, is sounding back to pre Death Magnetic days and should be worth a squirt.
Not my bag, but I am told Green Day's Revolution Radio is pretty good.

I went to see this guy last night, and bought his album immediately. Electro-indie-pop I suppose. Reminded me of erlend oye a bit.

And maybe Chromatics will manage to release Dear Tommy this year, after it was due to be released early last year.

I Can Never Be Myself When You're Around

do these guys ever tour?

I recently just discovered them and really like a good few of their tracks but they don't seem to gig much, even in the States which is where they're from.

dont think most of urbans going to like it, but Louie Vega is a god to me...
28 vocal soulful house tunes....

amazes me how many comps him and kenny have put out on over the years from various labels plus their own MAW label.

must be getting tricky now not to put on a track that they've included previously.
