Your daily cat and kitten news

This is Stripes (don't know his real name) the really well socialised, very friendly local young cat. Tummy is available for strokes, he loves to be picked up, just settles right into your arms.

Has pretty much single-pawedly destroyed a fence between me and a neighbour by landing on it in pursuit of birds (I mean, it was going to need replacing soon, but fuck me has he hastened it), have a horrible feeling he's quite the killer.

Lovely to pet though.

Handsome boy!

Three-legged Reba is getting over more softer. Little tart just flops right in front of anyone for a tummy rub.

Still will only sit with( not on) us on the safe but is weird in that if sit in my office chair chilling (not my desk one) she becomes a proper lap kat (also when I get out the shower and lie down to chill a bit she'll get comfy on my chest)

Don't think I was posting here at the time but she went missing not last summer the one before. Flyered everywhere, knocked on doors but no luck (although I do know there is another 3-legged tabby about 15mins walk away.)

In desperation I reached out to a Bristol Post journalist I used to play 5-a-side with, I said given it's August and funny season, do you want story to fill a webpage so managed to get this:

So we were starting to give up after a week but then someone found here about 1.5 miles away at the crow flies, well out of our poster/flyer zone. No idea how she got that far it's all terraces here, not like being able to jump from garden to garden (plus she ain't brilliant at jumping given only one back leg.

Well the people who found her knew how to contact me from the Bristol post article so all good, the paper even got some further web page filler with the story of how she had been found through the help of the paper

Don't leave us hanging Whagwan!! How did she lose it?

She had been exploring as a kitten and got into a garden a couple of doors down with a mean dog that attacked her. The amputation was pretty easy but she was in and out of the vets for months and months with complications afterwards but in the end they realised she was allergic to metacam which had been causing a lot of the problems.

Cause of all the stress she was spraying all over the house and they had a baby so reluctantly put her up for adoption.

She does still spray a little from time to time, a shout of "fucking piss cat" will go up. But we do love her!

No! His background is much better than mine.
No, yours has character whereas his background is plain. Not criticising him of course, he's very good and each to their own. I just prefer your things like bookshelves and Ryu's laser eyes.

When I was a kid we rented my uncle's house for a few years, and that came with a cat called Sybil who had to be locked downstairs with a thick bungee cord securing the door overnight because otherwise she'd climb into bed with you and soak the whole pillow with dribble 🤢 Lying like a human with her body under the covers just made it weirder. He's not that bad, thankfully!

My Radar used to sleep in the bed like a human from time to time - sometimes I'd wake up and he'd be under the covers with his head on my pillow, facing me, about an inch from my nose :D Often with an arm around me so his paw was resting on my shoulder or my neck :D
Other times I'd wake up with his arse plonked on my head, or his nose resting against my eyelid, which is far more normal in feline terms :D

So so glad I took the time and a few nights of disruption to get Jakey used to coming to bed with me - it turns out that now he is an elderly gent he is a very sweet and generally non-disruptive companion at night (and fingers crossed has given up pissing on the bed which is what got him banished when he was younger!) - he gets under the duvet and curls up next to me now he is used to it - adding his warmth to the bed, and the only disruption is him purring for a while, which I can live with - it is a comforting sound to fall asleep to.

Have you had a hair cut too? It looks good!

(Apologies when you invariably tell me that’s been your hair in photos for ages )

And hope you feel better soon!
Thanks for the healing wishes!

And no, that's just what it looks like when I've slept on it. 🤣 I am planning to cut it and change the colour when I'm well again though.
