Your daily cat and kitten news

you can get 'please don't feed' collars for kitties (example here, other suppliers / forms of words are available) - although this assumes that kitty doesn't 'lose' collars as a matter of routine, or would 'lose' this one in particular.
I think Trillian’s likely days of begging other homes for food are probably over now. She doesn’t roam very far these days, bless her. Also like Kizzy’s, I doubt it would be visible under all the floof!

This is our back door, where I want the catflap to be, but the only place it fits is that middle section. This means a hefty step up for the wee man to get in or out. Think I should put a box/step or something each side to help him, or is this normal for a upvc door and I'm worrying needlessly?

Never had a catflap before!

You could get a flat/plain replacement panel but don’t know how much it would cost.

not sure if kitty next door (small black + white - must be about 15 now) has had an unpleasant experience or something - i've not seen much of her recently with the cold weather, but saw her this morning and she just turned and ran. she's always been variable about whether she wants a fuss, but that's unusual.

:(

I've gained a second part time cat share cat
(I already have one of neighbours cats visit a lot for a quiet sleep under the bed)

In this cold snap I've gained the local stray who my niece named Romeo.
He's coming in for a good long sleep in a warm and peaceful place.

Although this morning I had to do an intervention to allow the other visitor (Bustah Vallers) out without a fight

I have an unlocked cat flap, I don't feed them

Peaceful, warm sleep spaces are sought after, evidently

with the kitty who used to live with my aunt and uncle, they had had to keep a couple of towels on the sofa, so that whoever was next to have kitty sat on their lap could put a towel on their lap first, due to cat dribbling...
When I was a kid we rented my uncle's house for a few years, and that came with a cat called Sybil who had to be locked downstairs with a thick bungee cord securing the door overnight because otherwise she'd climb into bed with you and soak the whole pillow with dribble 🤢 Lying like a human with her body under the covers just made it weirder. He's not that bad, thankfully!

Ken's cheesy arse problem got a bit worse so I took him to the vet this morning, where they have an anal gland clinic! Imagine doing that all day. Anyway he has been purged and they said it wasn't too bad so hopefully it will be a while before he starts to reek again. Poor thing came out of the room looking like he'd aged a few years :D

In happier times

This is Stripes (don't know his real name) the really well socialised, very friendly local young cat. Tummy is available for strokes, he loves to be picked up, just settles right into your arms.

Has pretty much single-pawedly destroyed a fence between me and a neighbour by landing on it in pursuit of birds (I mean, it was going to need replacing soon, but fuck me has he hastened it), have a horrible feeling he's quite the killer.

Lovely to pet though.
