Ha! :D

8 month old brothers, born on a farm, brought up at Sandbach Animal Rescue.

Ginger: Trafford.
  • Follower rather than leader so far (suspect might be a bit dim)
  • Worryingly large paws and tail.
Likes: hiding behind bookcases, playing with springs.

Black: Captain Dobey.
  • The Boss.
  • The first to every cat treat or bowl of food.
Likes: curtains and climbing.

Both huge fans of Mice for Cats on iPad. We've only had them since Sunday so not much time to get to know them, particularly as they're mainly hiding.

They already look like great characters
😀

Jocky went out on a Big Adventure yesterday morning - gone for 2.5 hours before marching proudly back home, tail up, immensely pleased with himself about something :D He scaled the back fence/bin/high wall nae bother. Had to keep him in this morning as we were both out (no one to let him back in until we get the flap fitted) but I'll let him out when I get home about 3.30ish. He'll deffo be back for his tea that way :D

Akiro's owner might have got rid of him. She reported me to the police and also to lambeth housing officer for feeding the local foxes. Its all tied into he crazy belief that I was keeping him "hostage" in my flat and also feeding her cats (which okay I was but other random people where doing it also). The housing officer visited today and as he was leaving, he said she told him she "got rid of him". If this is the case, I will miss him badly. He loved being with me.

That's just awful, so she didn't love him and want him, she just wanted him as a possession and to prevent you interacting with him.
Instead of keeping him and letting him spend time with other people, or giving him to you if she didn't want him, she's shipped him off somewhere else out of spite?
What a horrible person.
Have you checked the local shelters to see if he's been dropped off there? Doesn't sound much like she'd care what happened to him.
Selfish, miserable, nasty, spiteful arsewipe :(

He would visit my flat and leave. visit and leave. he didn't like going home which is why she thought he was being locked up in my flat. We got into back and forth in text and whatsapp. I ended up blocking her. She told me to stay away from her family. not to talk to her kids and not feed her other two cats. She couldn't see or accept that he simply did not like her or her kids. I would see her two kid try to pet him when he was out and about and he would just ignore them and walk away. If she got rid of him, its 100% out of spite. Could have easily come over and tell me: "I'm getting rid of him, you can pay £450 (which is what she claims she paid for him) or I'll find someone else". If he is gone, it will take a long long time to get over not seeing him ever again

Sadly, I suspect that for someone so spiteful "get rid off" probably means dumped at a great distance or a one-way trip to the vet.
If it was the former, then he might make his way back to somewhere he felt welcome ...

that "woman" is a right nasty arsewipe ...

‘Got rid’ could unfortunately mean ‘put down’
A schoolfriend’s mother put down his beautiful golden labrador cos she was jealous of the love between him and the dog. Apparently you could/can do this just by asking a vet.
She’s a complete psycho though - she killed his gerbils by drowning them in a can of enamel paint

Those were the housing officer's words. I don't he meant it as it comes across. Mid last year she was trying to get him indoors and he ignored her. I was outside watching. I walked up to him, picked him up and handed him to her. She got annoyed telling me that she didn't get a cat for it to never come home. She will either keep him indoors or she wants £450 for him. I should have offered that straight away. She told me message her and we will work something out. I offered £200 and she got back two days later to say she changed her mind and decided to keep him. So, Akiro continued to visit me. Fast forward to last month when it all kicked off after her kids (probably) spotted him on the window sill in my flat around 7 am. She came banging on our communal door around 10pm shouting to "let my cat out" and accusing me of keeping him "hostage" the whole day. Despite the fact that he was in and out of the flat that day on 3 separate occasions.

I mean I don't have a problem with indoor cats generally, mine all were/are indoor only and had/have great lives - but that was from kittenhood, when they are used to roaming it's a big change, especially if they are roaming a lot to escape chaos at home.
I can also understand worry about someone else trying to keep my cats (if they were indoor/outdoor) or to feed them without permission - I've got quite a firm stance on this which I know isn't always particularly popular - but letting a cat visit for a bit of a cuddle is no crime and not the same thing (when I first moved to London the people opposite in our block had a cat called Rizla who I used to look after when they were away most weekends, and he would come and go as he pleased between our flats and everyone was happy with that arrangement).
So sounds from that like she's just trying to blackmail you for money. If anyone is holding him hostage, it's her.
She's not doing any of this out of love for him, that's for sure. Plenty of people would be happy to know where their indoor/outdoor cat was going and that he was safe. She's concerned about getting money out of you by the sound of it.

BTW. the one pedigree cat I paid for (Sonic, Jakey was given to me) was £400, and I got his pink slip and pedigree. As she seems to be spiteful I'd be very wary about giving her any cash without a receipt or without his papers being signed over to you, otherwise she could take your money, give you the cat, and claim you stole him to the police again.

I've unblocked her on whatsapp. I hope she sees that she can now message me. She has him microchipped so if she still has him and does decide to sell him, I would ask for the microchip details to be tranferred. But its impossible to really find out whats happening as I can't seem to talk to her and don't want to message her. Also I might have made things worse as I got annoyed when the housing officer called last week about the foxes so I reported her to the council about her dog being in our communal garden as a tit for tat response.

I could email the council back to inform I would like to withdraw the complaint-though she may not know it was me who reported her.

Jocky had his first forays into our back yard this weekend. He started off dithering at the door, then took to slinking around the perimeter, sniffing everything, and this morning I let him out at 8am and he came marching back home again looking very pleased with himself at 10.30. Bless!

We have no cat flap though, and uPVC doors. Anyone with any experience of putting one on a door like that? How hard is it? How expensive to get someone else to do it? I could check the internet but it fucking overwhelms me these days, and I'd be there for hours.
We got a cat flap in our UPVC back door fitted for about £70 about 10 years ago.

He eventually decided to go out. Here he is, the Chinny King surveying his realm from the exact spot where the pigeons like to sit 😅

And back home again!

When Buttons had kittens, it was 3 months of a steep learning curve making sure they learned to use a litter box, getting them on to solids while ensuring didn’t injure themselves getting up to all manner of mischief (plus getting Buttons spayed to avoid a repeat performance). It was a relief getting them rehomed 😀

I had never appreciated how much work kittens are until I knew a cat breeder. So much weighing and feeding and obviously sometimes weaker kittens don't make it; she had one in her last litter whose weight was a worry for a long time but she got her through.

My Jakey was the only one who survived out of his litter - the mother had a very difficult delivery and by the time a c section was performed, they were all dead - Jakey a little less so fortunately, he was given CPR and massaged and started breathing on his own (but this is probably why he's a bit daft and clumsy, due to birth anoxia).
Then his mum got mastitis and stopped producing milk, so their human had to bottle feed Jakey every 2 hours or so 24/7 at first.
Heartbreaking and exhausting, not to mention expensive.

Tbf we’d be in trouble if someone else started feeding Trillian as she’s on a long term specialist diet to avoid crystals in her bladder. It’s the main reason we didn’t get another cat after her sister died.

The feeding of other cats always reminds me of an encounter with a cat called Noosh Noosh.

This goes back to when Trillian and sister Buffy were being taught how to use a cat flap. Trillian was not convinced, so at one stage we were trying to coax her through with tuna. On cue a little cat came along, behaving like he hadn’t eaten for days. He has a collar one with his owner’s number so we called it to check he wasn’t lost.

Owner basically told us that Noosh Noosh was NOT lost, was very well fed, and was basically just a naughty boy. She then asked me to put the phone to Noosh Noosh’s ear and started to tell him this. :D

Noosh Noosh did not get our tuna that day, and Trillian did not successfully learn to use the cat flap for some time :(

you can get 'please don't feed' collars for kitties (example here, other suppliers / forms of words are available) - although this assumes that kitty doesn't 'lose' collars as a matter of routine, or would 'lose' this one in particular.
