Why Did Darwinism Emerge?

nice guys finish last in life's great race

No, that's not quite what I mean. It's much simpler than that.

Basically, if a woman isn't interested in a bloke she will either ignore him or be nice to him in a friendly sort of a way.

If she takes the trouble to insult him, she's interested. Maybe not very interested, but at least a bit.

If she insults him using any of the following adjectives: narcissistic, egotistical, arrogant etc., she is very interested indeed and basically in the bag unless you make some kind of serious blunder.

Although why I'm giving away this invaluable advice for free escapes me to be honest.

are you used to being insulted by women, phil? most of the time, an insult's just that - an insult - and not a come on.

Well well well, it certainly seems that my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

I could teach you more, but I'd have to charge.
having seen what you've tried to communicate over a wide range of threads, i would be very doubtful of the value of anything you'd try to impart - whether for free or for money.

i'm certainly not adverse to finding myself attracted to someone fully capable of making a tit of themselves in public, but even i draw the line at someone who takes doing so quite this far

Yeah right.

I'm off to bed now. Sweet dreams, I know you will.

<snip>It does make your twatitude fairly obvious, though. :)

I leave the attempting to impress women to the likes of you, phil. It often results in truly hilarious threads.
Oh yes, such as this one. My core muscles and facial muscles have had one of the best workouts this month while catching up on this thread. Should Dwyer ever quit academia, he could easily do a double act with Stanley Edwards. :D

BTW dwyer don't flatter yourself, I second what toggle said and indeed have used similar words before to you, sweetie.
there is absolutely nothing you could possibly do that would leave me impressed with you.

Poor phil.
He still doesn't realise that the reason people come on his threads is to watch him make a fool of himself. :(
Oh, I wouldn't go quite that far. Some people have a bad day and throw a stress ball against the wall or kick the nearest stray cat, I don't. I need only to find something which dwyer has posted, so that I can have the pleasure of ripping it (and him) to shreds.

<snip>I'm not stupid you know.
Actually, sweetie, you are completely clueless.

You keep telling yourself that, Panda.

And I'll tell you something for nothing: you're very lucky I'm a nice guy, or you would be finding yourself single in short order.
You, sweetie? Nice, sweetie? Followed by that next little fantasy of yours, sweetie? If only you'd posted that one on Orang Utan's "new jokes please" thread you'd have made his year, sweetie. FYI sweetie I take my handfasting and my marriage seriously. Were I to ever consider cheating on, or leaving, ViolentPanda it certainly wouldn't be for you, sweetie.

you are however, delusional
Agreed, he is. :(

See what I mean about you making a fool of yourself? :)
Oh yes, but it has been somewhat amusing. :D

Dream on, sweetie. I'd rather shag 20 of the most desperate urbanites for 3 hours each than endure 5 minutes with you.

I fear he may be, if he conducts himself IRL as he does here.

He's used to being insulted, as well as slapped and threatened with legal action, I'd venture. :)
So I hear. :hmm:

i'm certainly not adverse to finding myself attracted to someone fully capable of making a tit of themselves in public, but even i draw the line at someone who takes doing so quite this far
Agreed.

In keeping with phil's unique attributions of meaning to words, we can take the word "invaluable" to mean "totally worthless". :)
Indubitably.

you're going alone i suppose
Unless dwyer can afford to pay the higher rates incurred due to damage to self-esteem. :D

offers greebo a large glass of wine. :D
Thanks. :D A toast to male chauvenist pigs and idiots, who are always there to kick at the end of a bad day! And also to our respective partners, who we appreciate so much for not being phildwyer.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
1) Kindly stop rewriting me when you quote me, there's a good chap.
2) By all means keep on telling yourself that, sweetie. Keep telling yourself that nobody with any taste or self respect could possibly reject what you say, let alone reject you personally, sweetie.
3)It must be fun inside your head, just bear in mind that there's a big bad world out there where annoyed women will eventually do to you what they did to the mine owner shopkeeper in Germinal. Do I have to give you a precis of that, or have you read it?

No, he was a profiteering shopkeeper, wasn't he? At least in the film.
Haven't seen the film. And it's been a few years since I last read the book. But I do remember that it was a particularly nasty and grisly fate, earned by forcing his attentions on females (for once, "women" isn't the right word, some were under age, even at that time).

BTW Random, I bow to your better recall of this, it seems that in the book it was the rather unpleasant and exploitive shopkeeper.

Strange as it may seem dwyer contributes more to the boards than you do
Explain please?

Edited to add: I can't be bothered to search L&L and PD's respective activity, so I'd appreciate you quantifying their contributions to urban. Thanks in advance.
