Ah I thought it looked familiar, I've been in that area - stayed in Limone which is just a bit around the lake from there, and visited the clock tower in Riva del Garda.

Auld Biscuit Arse, as my kids started calling him when we first visited Italy. He’s everywhere. Every time we found a statue in a town square they’d say “Auld Biscuit Arse again?”

I thought the story that they named the biscuit after him because he sat on one during a visit to the factory was spurious. Incidentally, the hotel actually had a packet of Sainsbury's garibaldis in one of the display cabinets.
If anyone's ever in Bergamo, I totally recommend it. Proper old school 70s style hotel and they do a fantastic breakfast. https://hotelcittadeimille.it/
