In case you're interested, and I'm sure you all are 
the rocks are (from left to right) - Scottish gneiss (high-grade metamorphic basement rock, ~2 billion+ years old), labradorite, calcite column, more labradorite. It's nice to have rocks as friends.

it was, i confess, this morning - we were due a very wet afternoon, from 1pm or so onwards, but the front seems to have slowed down somewhat and it only started properly about 4pm.
