It's the causeway to Cramond Island fifteen minutes walk from my mum's house just outside Edinburgh. But the little girl in the picture only knows it as 'Magic Island' because the causeway is underwater most of the day.Love that

We had a weekend in Ruthin recently and I was reminded of how appallingly, obscenely, soul-distortingly jealous I was of anyone who got to live in that little corner of the world.

I set off on a 100 mile bike ride and had Tweeted that I hoped I wouldn't encounter any flooded roads after all the recent rain.
After only 9 miles...

At Fladbury (24 miles into the ride) I encounter this!!!!
No-one in their fucking right mind would try to ride through this. So, naturally that's what I did.
(A bit scary when the current from the river that had burst its banks was trying to take the bike off the road)
Socks soaked, feet soaked, shoes full of water. The temperature about 7 centigrade. Feet Very Cold after that.
