So, back to my current view of flooded roads on Sunday: this was the last one.
You might notice the depth gauge shows "2 feet". You'll be pleased to learn that I wasn't stupid enough to try riding slowly through it.
No. What I did instead was to back up a hundred metres or so then pedal like mad to gain enough momentum to be able to freewheel through.
As I hit the water I created a huge bow-wave that soaked my cap, top and gloves. Then I ground to a halt half way through.
I had to wade thigh-deep the rest of the way laughing like a maniac.
Utterly soaked through. Fuck me, was it cold...
