What's for tea tonight?

I've got a craving for a big pile of mash and something porky, perhaps fat pork chops with a mustard-based cream sauce. And some green veg to mop the creamy goodness up with.

Still, seeing as those items aren't in the fridge after a lazy w/e, I"m going to have to endure the supermarket. And I'll probably end up with some shrink-wrapped piece of tasteless nothingness or some randomly selected ready-meal.

:(

Hmm, well I have some long grain and wild rice which might be nice but I want something more substantial. However that might mean making another dish (chicken/whatever....)

*thinks*

Make whatever roti/chapati/whatever flatbread you can manage. It's just flour and water really.

You can always send any leftovers to Herbsman. He needs it to mop the olive oil out of his innards...

;)

I is hungry reading this thread but haven't got a clue what to have for tea.

I like the sounds of stuffed mushrooms though....

That is correct, I am still feeling the effects of my olive oil binge drinking. In fact yesterday my skin was so oily that it took four tries before I finally managed to get into bed without slipping out again. I'm finding it hard to stay in this seat too. Imagine the looks on the faces of the library staff as they watch me constantly slipping from side to side, trying to stabilise myself on this chair while simoultaneously typing and wiping the oily sweat from my face at one and the same time? And some pissed up girl gave me a kiss on the cheek yesterday when I was delivering a package (which kept slipping out of my hands), and later to her friends she described the flavour of my skin as very fruity, sharp and tangy like a fairly decent quality extra virgin from Aldi :(

I had a craving for sausages (can you hear me madz, I'm having SAUSAGESSS! :D )

Have got some lush pork and mustard saussies from the local butchers, and spuds and broccoli - rarrr

I can't wait to start eating broccoli again!

In fact I can't wait to have to cook for myself only and be able to eat whatever I like whenever I like, yay :)

The mushrooms I've got are about 5-6" across!

*gets ruler out*

 wow!

I always forget how much mushrooms shrink when I cooked stuffed mushrooms (all of once!) and had more Stuff than Mushroom, but it was still pretty lush.

I think you should share your stuffing recipe felixthecat...

Risotto with chestnut mushrooms and leftover roasted veg from Sunday's roast. Pour small glass of white Burgundy into risotto, rest of bottle into mouth, light spliff, plan vegetable garden.

I'll make cabbage too, and eat lentils everyday and avocadoes too! (not together though )

Nice one. Have you made it before? I can't remember. I now dry-fry the crushed spices before I start too, it gives a nice roasty flavour.

No, but I'll definitely fry the spices first. Think I'm going to add some flaked almonds too. And maybe some chopped dried apricots...although perhaps that's a step too far.

sausages and baked beans with leek and potato mash :p

and a big buncha grapes

and possibly a chocolate reindeer later when i get the munchies....

Have you learned nothing from Greg Wallace and John Torode? If you put apricots in it, it's not kheema mattar any more, it's some weird fruity curry with too many ingredients.

I've made a soup using some of last nights roast chicken with onions, mushrooms and about to add in some curly kale :)
