I've just been to the Italian deli and went rather extravagant. So we're having bresaola, organic buffalo mozarella, marinaded artichokes and pugliese bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil we brought back from Tuscany. I am actually a living embodiment of the middle classes.

oh god *salivates* that sounds soooo fucking NOM!

Alex B is on his way home with tomatoes and basil too. Little bit of salt on the tomatoes, couple of bottles of red, we are set.

and some olive oil, and black pepper, shirley? i *heart* toms done like that. it was the only way i got into eating non-cooked toms

well it was supposed to be pie, potatoes and veg, but everyone's gone out, so that means I don't have to cook  :D

which is probably a bad move, as I'm going to the pub in a while.

Olive oil for Alex, black pepper for me. I like my oil on the bresaola and that's it. I've got the special truffle oil out in preparation

Gawd, I can't wait until August! All this tomato talk has me salivating.

A healthy slice of tomato, few drops of balsamic, a couple of bruised basil leaves and a thin slice of bocconcini is probably my favorite 'canapé'.

i had pasta with chilli sausages and a tomato sauce.

i have 4 tomatoes growing on the tomato plant on my windowsill - i cant wait 'til i can eat them! :D

Got a pie off the farmers market in Newcastle today, is beef, beer and oyster - will have with mash and cabbage. Love raw oysters but never tried them cooked, am reserving judgement :hmm:

Chicken curry and I might try the famous dhal too.

The wiki doesn't tell me amounts or what type of lentils though. Who's made it?

going out tonite on a date...made reservations at some asian "fusion" place...whatever that is

Chicken schnitzel, broccoli, honey carrots, jacket spuds(steamed)gravy, washed down with a dry white followed by a sticky date pudding with ice cream:cool:

Just been out for lunch - shared antipasti followed by fish & seafood stew. All good.

Now I am devoting the rest of the day to making stock. I got some very good veal bones from my butcher this morning, have roasted them, and they're just coming up to a simmer on the hob with the usual veg and herbs. It's going to simmer for 6 hours. Then tomorrow I'm going to make an awesome French onion soup.

Vegan Thai green curry, which for some reason is more like soup, with chunks of tofu in. And probably some bread to mop up the saucey stuff that's left behind.

It will have cheese and bread in it, as instructed by the handwritten recipe I have from a restaurant in Montmartre where I had the best French onion soup ever.
