I'm having chicken curry, in a box, from lidl :(

Thought I'd make my first post here, rather than start a pointless introduction thread and waste bandwidth :D

So yeah. Hello everyone :)

hey, hi, welcome :)

Yes. Yes you ought.

You just stick around here. We've managed to nag at least one take-away enthusiast into cooking more. ;)

(Hi DC! :D )

I normally have a load of decent food in, I can just never be arsed cooking any of it. I have all the local takeaways on speed dial  :D

Welcome btw Vertizontal! :D

Fish and chips for the kids and heo - something else for me...beans on toast maybe....something effortless anyway.

tonight i'm going to make the pan fried chicken with pesto, creme fraiche and tomatoes that Biddlybee recommended.
I'm also going to make jeruselem artichokes to go with it as i've never had them before.

Dunno?
Am pretty hungry due to not having had breakfast or lunch.
Not gonna be home till later though so doubt I/we will have anything complicated!

im going to cook jamacian chicken with gravy and rice with veggies tonight.washed down with spirits of some sort..my spouse lost her temp job :(, so I need to try and make her feel a bit better :)

this sounds lovely..where's this recommendation? :)

chicken legs which b/f had marinated earlier, in spices? natural yoghurt, garlic & a bit of ginger, with some salad leaves & tomatoes.
I dont mind washing up if he's doing the cooking :) not that there will be much

This was made of win and very, very easy. Thanks Nigella Express. The wine I'm drinking with it is making me veeeerrrry sleepy though, after three hours sleep today.

Stilton, walnut and onion tart

How's your menu planning coming along? Does it mean you won't have to live off tinned soup for a week before pay-day?

sausages, mash, baked beans for tea ( 5ish) followed by second tea of a cheese bagel, some cheese and crackers, and a tub of cottage cheese with chives

I had 2 slices of cold pizza when I got home at 5 then later had oven chips and beans. What a load of crap.

I feel the need to note: this thread has been invaluable in deciding what to have for tea. It's really very interesting and handy to know what other people are having for tea and nick their ideas

I secretly long for the days of leftover pizza for breakfast :D

What I mean is, it's nice the way that lots of people have tried and like OU's bacon and bean gratin, and I now have Soj's veg curry recipe, and so on.

I've used some of your recipes missfran, and twiddled around with a few others.

I haven't got a clue what I'll be cooking for tea tonight. I'll probably think about it late afternoon or early evening.

I know what you mean, I love the baked risotto that has been posted a few times. Haven't tried the gratin yet but I will.

It's nice to get new ideas, I do get stuck in a bit of a food rut. We seem to have spag bol every monday for some reason.

Good so far, thanks. I did a massive shop for non-perishables at the beginning of the month, so I only need to spend a few quid a week on veg, herbs and the odd chop or sausage. Even if I do run out of cash, I can do a week of cupboard meals. Shouldn't though, cos I've decided to be sensible with money for once. :)

Current plan is leftover lentil stew and then pancakes filled with chopped up Magnum ice creams. With the focus heavily on the pancake part of the meal.

Another tart - maybe goat's cheese and summat else

How do you make your tarts? Do you make the pastry and everything?

I find tarts a bit intimidating.

Heh

I had an odd leftovers meal....

I mixed up some mayo, olive oil and lemon juice and threw in half a tin of salmon, some steamed broccoli florets, a couple of new potatoes and some red onion which I'd fried first till they were nice and crusty (potatoes having been boiled first), a chopped tomato and some feta...mixed it all up...then wolfed it all down.

Surprisingly nice!

(anything is when you've had a few beers mind you  :D )

Tonight heo's making homemade burgers in baps with salad.
