well i presumed that the quinoa wouldn't be mushy if it was cooked properly. It's been slightly crunchy when i've eaten it restaurants.
I know i used too much water, bcos it said on the pack that after 15 mins, all the water should have been absorbed. I had to drain out a load of left over water

When I made it it just seemed to be sort of bits with other bits that were just like the skins of the grains - like when you get the skin of a bean. Yik.

And not tasty enough to bother with trying again seeing as I already have many a different rice, bulghar wheat and cous cous in my life.

I concur. I've given it a try a few times and it's simply not good enough for me to bother with again.

The thing about grains is that they're usually a carrier of other flavours, and the texture is what it's all about

I agree, and the texture of quinoa is what lets it down IMO. It's a bit bobbly and mushy and bitty. Doesn't really work for me.

Yes I do understand that and I put plenty of well flavoured dressing on my quinoa but still found it too disappointing to bother with. It just lacked anything that would make me want to try making it again. I might try it in a restaurant one day to see what it's "supposed" to be like but only if I'm prepared to potentially not like my dinner IYSWIM. Perhaps I'll just try a bit of someone elses at some point...

I've got a big bowl of homemade chunky vegetable soup in the fridge that needs eating, but...meh. Veg soup. Boringz.

I made a soup yesterday and just kind of threw in everything i had and then blended it.
I put in onions, cellery, spinnach, chick peas and potatoes.

It looks a bit grosse, but i think it tastes okay. Only thing is, i think bcos of the chick peas and potatoes, it's really really thick. I could spread it on my toast, turn the toast upside down and it wouldn't budge :D

Should i just add water to thin the soup down or is that going to take the taste away?

Can't you add some veg stock?

No more takeout *goes green* We've exhausted all the takeout options in our neighbourhood, and my skin can't take the strain of all that grease. I need vitamins!

*buys salad*

That's another word for takeout or takeaway - I'm not having that though - I have a takeaway about once every two years
Yeh I know, but you didn't make that clear, and I DID wonder what happened to the whole planned menu thing you were doing

I have leftover mideast food from the other nite and leftover chicken/sausage bake from last nite. But tonite I think i'll have something else. I don't know what.

I know I have some frozen hot dogs and buns. Maybe those with fresh cut onions and mustard? And some beans on the side?

Or maybe i'll order pizza :D
