leftover lasagna, leftover pizza + a bowl of honey bunches and oats with milk :p

oh yea and a couple bacardi and diet cokes with lime

Was the diet coke to try and make up for the lasagna and pizza? :D

Fried sea bas, mash, brokly and green beans. Boring. Had no herbs. Just squirt of lemon. Scoffed in about 5 minutes.

Getting hungry again.

Tonight I've decided on Morroccan lamb shanks with cous cous or rice. Nice b-day meal and they'll be easy for Flashy to get down with his swollen glands and general poorliness. At lunch I'm off to buy myself a b-day cake as Flashy is being incarcerated to the house only at the moment and hopefully it'll look as good as the one aqua posted in my b-day thread. :D

fuck :( I forgot to take the chicken out again

ah well I have baked both fruit cakes now so tonight will hopefully be one of calm so will sort something out

really quite fancy some chorizo though, so maybe chorizo'y beany stewy thing

Oven tea tonight. I've got two Swedish ladies coming to stay tomorrow, so I'll be spending the evening cleaning.

Speaking of which, I want to cook them something British tomorrow night, but am still thinking of what. One is lactose intolerant so that rules out toad in the hole, etc. and a roast isn't really appropriate for a Thursday evening. I want something that can be cooked in less than an hour. Suggestions?

what about a good beef and ale pie? you could prep it tonight, then in the oven to finish off tomorrow :)

I'm a-cleanin' tonight. Have to transform my hovel into an acceptable place for guests. It may take some time.

I did consider chish and fips but I just don't think I could match up to a decent chippy (and I don't have a deep fat fryer) and they're bound to have a decent chippy at some point during their stay. Best left to the professionals I think.

I don't like fried eggs :p

but it wouldn't take long :) you can ignore the filling once its cooking, and the pastry just needs whizzing together then fridging :)

Was too ill to cook last night so had hot and sour soup from the Chinese takeaway. Tonight will probably be the chicken and mushroom pies we were going to have last night, although I don't really feel like eating much at the moment. :(

The pain (& joy) of living alone is that you eat the same meal sometimes a few days in a row.

Tonight Im having roasted romano pepper, red onion, courgette, at halfway point tossed in balsamic vinegar and chunks of halumi added.

I will adding some torn fresh basil and spooning over a baked sweet potato.

This is exactly what I had last night..though tonight Im going to roast more veg.

You don't have to at all! Why don't you freeze portions?

Anyway, tonight I really REALLY fancy chips, egg, and mushy peas. RARRR!

The sausage and lentil casserole is popular. I haven't made it with merguez sausages though. Let me know how it goes.

I made the merguez sausage and lentil casserole:

fried sausages for 10, remove
fried onions, carrot, and garlic
added sausages
rosemary
bay leaf
lentils
stock
bit of chilli

I think that was it, I was just going to have sausage and mash but your recipe spured me on to be more adventurous

'bout 40 to 60 minutes, with mash, lovely

Someone on this thread says I put too much chilli in it!

Bah!

:D

:)

i was bad last nite. at the last minute i decided to go play cards with this group up at the local pub. ended up bringing home a take out 1/2 lb hamburger with garlic mayo and a HUGE order of greasy crunchy onion rings....

it was soooo good & fatty that i'll have to eat nothing at lunch today to make up for it...

Brawn? That's a wrong 'un.

*vomits*
Ah where's your sense of adventure? It was great by the way traditional seasonal German food, kale being harvested after the first frost.
E2A tonights going to be cabbage and ham with pots (has to be simple, cheap and filling at the moment as we're skint) :)

I might knock up some pastry tonight, depending on how energetic I'm feeling (I do it by hand).

If someone's lactose intolerant, does that mean they need to avoid milk only or all dairy products? Should I avoid making the pastry with butter?

Yes all dairy. Mother Mogden is that and believe me you don't want to be in a confined space with her if she's had any butter, milk, cheese, cream...

:(

I do freeze portions but I don't believe it's possible with this meal. So it's either eat up now or not at all. I don't mind as it's very tasty but kinda wanted to give a reason why I was eating a similar meal 3 days in a row.

What would the neighbours think ?

So true :D I used to live with someone who was lactose intolerant. Boy, was it obvious when he'd inadvertently ingested dairy

I'm having an omlette tonight with either sardine and red onion filling (sounds weird but is pretty good tbh...courtesy of Hugh Fearnley W's latest book) or a combo of red leicester and gruyere
