What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I've got a long ballet class until very late and not much in the house, so something quick, simple and healthy (after the long weekend's indulgences) is needed. Probably fish, sweet potato and broccoli.

Gotta take the kids to the dentist after school so did some prep yesterday and just finished making a chicken/potato/creamed corn soup...so will quickly reheat it and bung a load of grated cheddar on top when we get back

Yoghurts for the kids and I will have the cream doughnut that I didn't have yesterday ( :p @ kids)

Changed me mind. More chicken vindaloo, I think.
I don't think I've ever had a vindaloo. Must try it sometime.

I think I'm gonna attempt a lemon meringue pie next weekend. Biscuit base, cos I just prefer them for this kind of thing.

Anyone got a favourite recipe or are they much of a muchness?

Best one I ever had was from Viva Panjim, one of the best restaurants on Earth. Me and Han had a five or six course banquet there that cost about ten quid iirc.

Lazy fish pie - ginger puree, chopped peppers & celery, hot-smoked salmon (from the freezer), tin of gratin dauphinoise on top.

Doitdoitdot! Any dish that translates as 'garlic wine' has to be good. I followed this recipe, by and large. It's quite different to the vindaloo you'd get over here. The ones in Goa are tremendous. I didn't quite hit their giddy heights but it wasn't half bad.

i had a pork belly vindaloo at gods gift.. Ruby, i think thats her name, made it as a Christmas meal for her family and cooked a bit extra for us. Fackin lush and totally different to what passes for a vindaloo over here

Yes, Ruby is her name and she cooked that for me when I stayed there, too. I loved staying there. Nice folks.

A little portion of stir-fried veg and noodles with sweet chilli sauce.

Then a massive fuck off pancake filled with red fruits, flambeed in rum and with a dollop of ice cream on the top.

No i was too.knackered too make chicken stew so we ended up.having the chicken in warm olive studded ciabatta with.mayo black pepper and a little cheese. Bloody lush.

Theres still loads of chicken left... After reading the couscous thread maybe harrisa spiced chicken with chickpeas, veggies and couscous.... but I'll prob change my mind by tea time ;)
