What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Today is our Sunday so we're having roast chicken, roast turnip, green beans, (the last two picked this morning from my Dad's allotment), new potatoes, blue cheese sauce, gravy then lemon tarts and cream. Plus sherry and white wine.

Then it's back on the diet I think!! :D

the tesco delivery arrived just in time so we picked an off meal-plan dinner of chicken and mushrom pies (gluten & wheat free for him, bog standard for me) mashed potato with green beans and peas.
Yoghurts for pudding.

We're having a one tray bake/roast with chicken breast strips, chipolatas, sweet potato, carrots, garlic and thyme; savoy and green beans on the side :)

Haggis and mash. Nearly ready. It's also easily heated up when Very Tall Lodger gets home after his shift at about 1:30 am

Butchers is cooking smoked haddock & leek risotto again (we had it on Saturday) as the haddock needs using up! Good thing I absolutely love it.

One tray bake / roasts are the way forward: i made 2 last week as it meant once it was in the oven i could go and sit on the sofa! i might steal your combination idea ^

Bob- why no eating yer tea?!

A quick and easy one - pretty much the first recipe I ever learnt in the distant pre-uni days fwiw - of chicken, white wine, mushroom and cream sauce, over tagiatelli

Trying to get everything done with quickly so that I can spend a little time bottling the chillies that I brined last night, then pouring the pickling solution over. I made pepper sauce (Louisiana style) last night and this is the remainder (on the right) from this portion of the greenhouse crop

...grant you, that's not excessively tall, but I'm only 5' 4"
It's tall enough :D I'm your height and used to go out with someone his height. We looked ridiculous together.

Anyway, we went for a quick tea of a number of Waitrose curry side dishes, which were reduced. They were all hateful and we threw most of it away. :(

The bigger littlun had a mate over for tea so I cooked pasta in a sauce of her own devising - garlic, mushrooms, cream, black olives & parmesan - was lovely.

I meant to write to Waitrose after buying a range of disgusting veggie Indian meals.

Nice looking chillies there tarannau!

Great after a long day at work too :) I did the chicken in foil parcels so it stayed nice and moist.

Haven't worked out how to get sweet potato a little bit crispy/crunchy. Anyone got any tips?

My GOD that's a fine looking PIE, ringo

B - prob just doing them LONGER, I reckon - they do tend to be a bit soft, eh?
I'm wondering how fine semolina would work on them, too (I lightly coat parboiled potatoes in them before roasting them for extra crunch....although having said that, I'm not sure parboiling sweet pots would be good....but with a bit of oil on them the semolina would probably stick to them just fine....and that might then get you some extra crunch). :hmm:

We're having tandoori chicken legs, rice and salad.

oh, the boy is away so the world is my oyster: or my dinner can be as wheaty as i like!
I think i'll probably have lashings of pasta with a creamy panchetta / broccoli sauce.

I took a friend back and forth to hospital several times last week and she has rewarded me with some of her lovely homemade chicken dhansak, so that's what's for tea tonight. I'm really looking forward to it.

Although it's not esp. the weather for it we shall mash potatoes, veggie sausages (Cauldron ones) and mixed veg from the freezer and gravy.

I need to use up sausages & potatoes and this is as far as I'm prepared to stretch myself today. I once made a Morrocon type affair with veggie sausages which I could not eat as unbeknown to me I was hours away from a serious kidney infection taking it's hold. I have never been able to contemplate making this dish or similar since.

My son actually did a little *WOAAHHH!* when I said we were having tandoori chicken this morning, cos the last time I did it he was sick :( (from something unrelated, although I'm not altogether sure what it was, tbf :hmm: :D ). I did ask if he wanted me to do something else instead :D but he said no.

MAN THE FUCK UP, MOONSI! :p
