What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Ended up doing braised lamb shanks as the cheapest peice of lamb left was £20  Warm bakewell tart and vanilla cream afterwards.

Xanadu left very satisfied. From the food you filthy gits.

for us we are having veggie spag bol cooked with quorn mince, mushrooms (freebies), onion & peppers with spaghetti and garlic bread. Garlic bread is a Asda smart price one.

ETA: Sainsburys are doing quorn products for 3 for £5 which is good deal for the more expensive products (mince, chunks).

Yay....I approve of this use of broccoli.....:D :) :p

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :hmm:

I fancy something really dirty like macdonalds/burger king/papa john's.

Hopefully I'll be able to convince Mr Yu of this too.

Tonight I'm going to make a chicken and mushroom pie, need to go and look for one in my recipe books 'cos I've never made one.

Haven't made pastry for ages and made up my ownrecipe, but Mrs R reckoned it was the best chicken & mushroom pie she'd ever eaten :)

I'm making a stew in my slow cooker. Put it on far too late as usual, despite preparing the veg last night. Why do fucking shallots and garlic take so motherfucking long to peel? Bastards.

Whacked it on high for the first few hours to give it a good chance to get cooking, then I'll switch it to low for the last few hours later. Hopefully I'll be eating before 9pm -_-

Irish beef, potatoes, carrots, shallots, garlic, mushrooms, possibly putting in some sliced green beans nearer the end if there's room (the pot is pretty much stuffed atm), and I have tiger bread rolls to sop up the nom. Just using them stock pot things for the broth, along with a little mustard powder added for flavour. Shall see how it goes.

Take garlic, cut off root, place on chopping board, place flat of chefs knife on garlic, bash with bottom of fist. Hey presto, garlic peeled :D

With the shallots, I just cut it in half from root to tip. Then peel off the first layer on each side.

It's looking like spicy squash and carrot soup with bits of bacon in it in case anyone thinks it needs meat.

Was going to cook well in advance but I need a lie down after nearly getting run over by a mobility scooter and the shock of a wonderfully kind woman letting me queue jump.

So, jumping out in front of a poor disabled person and bashing an old woman on the head to take her place in a queue? Broken Britain indeed.

She nearly swerved at an unsteady me actually. AND the kind woman in the queue was younger than me. So There.

OK that's a bit weird. Is that why you were all hot and sweaty when I saw you the other week? Not because you were trying to deliver a letter, you were hanging around at school kicking out time? :hmm:
charming. In person you at least bothered to say "pale and flushed".
it's the new students. I forget I'm older now. :(

All that remains from the w/ends cooking/BBQing - burgers, sausages, salt fish cakes, chicken, linguine, rice, corn, salad, bread(s). :)
