What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I got an indian takeaway delivered yesterday. Since i moved into a place on my own, i've never ordered in before bcos it never seemed worth it, but just couldn't be bothered to cook last night. Got a Thali set meal for 1. It was INSANE. Vegetable korma, bhajis, mushroom stew thing, bombay potato stew thing, rice, salad, popadoms, naan bread, raita & 6 tubs of dips  If I hadn't been such a pig, that meal could have lasted me 4 days! However, being the pig that i am, it'll feed me twice

I'm going to try making mrs fran's puy lentil lasagne (with readybought undairy cheese sauce cos i can't be faffed with experimenting with tofu and maple syrup), sides of salad and red onion and rosemary focaccia, and an apple crumble for pudding.

Tonight we are having a Foul. which is some sort of bean thing here in Sudan

Love that, my recipe calls it foul moudmas. I like it with hard boiled eggs (quartered) on the top, but I'm not sure how common that is.

We're having build it yourself Mexican tortilla wraps with pulled pork, veggie chilli, refritos, iceberg lettuce, gaucamole, soured cream and chopped coriander.

^YUM, ringo!

Last night was a freezer dinner - scampi and chips (CHUNKY HOMEFRIES, badg! ) - tonight, I'm not sure....I have one more meals worth of chicken and beansprouts which I should do in another stir fry/noodle soup thing, but I might just get a chinese..... :hmm:

Seeing as I get paid tomorrow and I still have some cash spare, I'm going on the hunt for a leg of lamb. Going to slow cook it with a rosemary seasoning paste and on a bed of garlic cloves. Roast tatties, yorkshires, broccoli, green beans and a pan gravy.

Cheesecake or Bakewell tart and vanilla custard for pudding.

weirdo

I had crumpets for breakfast.

I need to do something about all the random bits of meast in the freezer so I'm going to have a rummage and fashion them into some sort of food stuff. I will report back when I have decided.

Last night after olives and chocolate I made myself cheese and jalapenos on (olive bread) toast. With ketchup.

Today the plan is some sort of mince beef stew and dumplings. I'm hoping there's wine.

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, yorkshires, bread sauce, carrots, broccoli, swede, gravy and stuffing balls.

Can't decide but don't want to do roast again.

Made insanely difficult by the fact that I'm veggie but Mr _it hates all seeds, nuts, pulses, quorn and soya.... and also dislikes most bloody meats as well!

(never mind the hating all non-potatoey vegetables except lettuce, green beans, onion and tomato)

It will probably be some manner of enchiladas or lasagne though.

we're having a 3 course meal over the whole day so:

Roast Pumpkin and Almond Soup with Almond & Cumin Dukkah (Lunch)

Anchovy & Parsley Stuffed Veal Meatballs (or Pork as I ballsed up getting the veal) with Herb Coated Courgettes with Coriander and Lemon Confit Dressing & White Bean Parsley and Caramelised Fennel Salad with Lemon and Tahini Dressing (Tea)

Honey & Ginger Roasted Apricots with Ricotta on Green Peppercorns and Za'atar Spiced Filo (Supper)

(all from this months Olive mag)

Never seen it with eggs here, but otherwise it is very common.

Lamb for me, it went in the slow cooker last night with loads of garlic and rosemary and potatoes and a bit of lemon juice. The house smells fantastic.

That was reallyy good, having that again. The leftover pork and refritos were spot on in a bageutte with some Wensleydale for lunch today too.

Tonight I'm going to make a chicken and mushroom pie, need to go and look for one in my recipe books 'cos I've never made one.

It's quite an assortment that folk are having!....and yes Callie I agree Sheo is a weirdo when it comes to this thread.

I'm aiming for some sort of veggie roast dinner. I want roast potatoes so the meal will revolve around that lovely decision. I'm contemplating wine but I do seem to have quaffing the ol alcohol quite a bit of late. I did find some 8% red wine in Asda the other week that had no sulphates and was vegan. I ended up sinking a bottle & half as it was like a really tasty ribenna .

I've pretty much decided not to bother with a chinese now and was thinking of having a southern fried chicken fillet from the freezer win a sandwich with lettuce and mayo, but JUST FOR THAT, I might change my mind again and have a bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes instead.
