What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Our lovely vegan friends are coming for tea. They don't eat mushrooms or olives either however so cooking for them can force me to get slightly more creative. Tonight's menu is:

Home made foccaccia with sumac, herbs and sesame seeds on the top
Hummous
Lentil salad
Cous cous
Chickpea and aubergine tangine

What else you using your chillies for soj? I picked these this morning, because there are a whole load of new ones growing :)...
I haven't cropped them yet Bee - not sure me Cheyennes are quite ready, and the jalapenos I picked last night weren't QUITE ready. Looking fabulous though, as are yours! Am seriously thinking of pickling a few as I lurrrve pickled chillies, and have two jars with actual vinegar in just waiting :D

Tonight, after a drunken last night where much beer and some ridiculously hot chillies (Trinidad 7 Pots) were consumed, I'm going to eat pizza and slob out. Somehow I managed to cook a meal late and half cut last night, but strangely enough I didn't bother with the washing up

I've had a bad psychological hangover today so I've decided to treat myself and ordered a pizza from a posh pizza place.

12" 4 cheese.

Nom.

The chilli we were supposed to have last night.

I realised I didn't have any chilli powder so asked mr madz to go and get some. He got there, realised there was no money in my purse, couldn't remember my pin so went back to the car to scrabble enough money to get it. He came home, regaled me with his tale of woe and proudly presented me with a tub of medium curry powder.

He's gone back out.

Those chillis were brutal mate and compared to others I got away lightly :D

We're only working up - the Scorpions and Nagas are probably a bit hotter than that.

Give it a few weeks time to mature to red and the full chilli challenge is on. I couldn't resist giving a little treat to a scouse-named pal last night on his Bday - his expression was a treat and a half.

Fucking lovely taste mind. Still, I'm not convinced T's idea of swapping 7-pots in for bonnets on his next batch of jerk would be as good an idea as he believes.

Ooooh, which posh pizza place? *thinks you may be local.....*

Tonight I'm doing another tray bake / all-in-one-roast inspired by the M&S advert but with more veg as requested by the boy who had to eat "out of a vending machine" today and needs some vitamins :D
So it has butternut squash, peppers, onions, garlic, red peppers, carrots and sausages which have olive and tomato in. will mix some tomato relish in before we eat it.

Tray bakes are great, I used to do loads with chicken thighs, not sure why I don't any more :hmm:

*adds to meal list*

Tonight I've got some sainsburys super noodles at work, I want bed.

oh, good to know - thats' on my mums road :D might grab one next time im over there

Oh cool. The pizza base is really good. Good menu.....although I wouldn't have put brie on a 4 cheese pizza but replace it with gorgonzola or some other blue cheese.

Are you a Cambridge resident?

It was really tasty chilli. We have some pickled Naga which are at least as brutal but with less flavour. I could eat them in moderation. Certainly would make a mean and tasty chilli.

Your mates face was a red picture of pain last night :D
