What's for tea tonight? (#8)

nah it's moroccanny. i may have to add chickpeas which is a bit self defeating cos the kids aren't keen and it's only to get them to eat the bloody thing i need to de-hot it. but maybe they'll soak some of the hot out of the rest? :hmm:

I hope no hummingbirds were harmed in the making of the stew
If it's moroccany then perhaps dried apricots might work?

its getting apricots in a bit, but kid2 won't eat those. actually that's a point the one who doesn't like apricots likes chickpeas and vice versa so adding both should be worth a shot :)

heh sorry, hummingbird stew is what we call it after something funny kid2 said that she's never going to be allowed to forget (((children who have to grow up with a million "family jokes")))

I just clicked on the 'What's in your glass' thread instead of this one and thought you were having whiskey for tea :D

would lemon juice take the heat out? no apparently sweet things like tomatoes will or adding raw potato chunks which you later remove when its soaked up the chilli.

I made a butternut squash, halloumi and chilli omlette/fritatta with baby salad leaves and cherry tomatoes.
Another stick or two of carte d'or truffle noir for pudding

Got my mum coming down and I'm making a roasted tomato and courgette soup to have with garlic bread (well I am once I can face going down into the rain and the gloom to pick it all :( )....and since there's only one garlic baguette left to share between the four of us I've told her to bring a STODGY pudding...

A spag bol that's been maturing nicely in the fridge for a bit. Might bulk it out with soya mince to make it two portions, now I know Herself will be in tonight.

venison burgers, and I might crack open a jar of the veg & tomato relish we made at the weekend to go with them (although I know I should probably leave the relish a bit longer to mature)

More detail please thank you

There was once a cow who lived on a field. Happy with all the other cows. This cow had baby cows too.
Then the cow was murdered.
Skinned and chopped into pieces.
Sold to industry.

Now cow is a steak.
And is yummier this way :)

Supposed to be chilli but mr madz forgot to get the mince out of the freezer so it'll probably be a trip to the chipper.

Chicken thighs baked with chorizo, new potatoes, orane and thyme in the manner of Nigella.
Might make a cake or muffins later for pudding.
