What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I wasn't up to cooking/eating last night so am going to do the mini-roast that I had planned tonight as a late one instead.

Roast chicken thighs for me, Lidl mature cheddar garlic and spinach wellington (delicious btw) for OH.
Roast spuds, steamed broccoli & cabbage, roast parsnip and carrot (with honey and thyme), sage & onion stuffing (pack from Lidl pimped up with butter and veg stock and a dob of marmite), gravy.

Spaghetti al limone.
Chocolate ice cream on a stick.

ie a choc ice? Or actual chocolate ice cream lolly type thing?

(EDIT: no I don't really need to know, just want to know what I should be fancying eating that I don't have available today :D )

Epona A choc ice, I guess, although I always think of them as stickless. Officially a 'Judes vegan mini Belgian chocolate stick'. Just the right size for afters.

Gotcha, thinking about it I've had choc ices both on and off stick, I don't think the stick is integral to the definition - a lot of the time I am just gobbling them straight out the wrapper. It's Magnums and the like that tend to be on a stick. (I think they are still technically a choc ice on a stick).

Fish, chips, peas, salad, couple of pints of lager courtesy of my parents at a local pub. Good pub grub and great value.

It was supposed to be lunch but my parents got delayed by Hermes predictably fucking up a delivery to them and them having to sort it out by phone before leaving and we missed lunch service so had an early tea instead.

It came out a treat, so I will do it again, I added some uncooked rice, a dash of liquid smoke at the same time as I put the peppers and beans. It came out with the rice done perfectly and a bit of bite to the pepper, lovely and rich. Attempted to revive some taco shells that were open and at the back of the cupboard, broke them up a bit, gave them a spritz of oil and whacked them in the air fryer. Where they proceeded to blow about a bit, until one blew up onto the heating element and created a cloud of smoke. 🤦🏼‍♀️😆 Still they mainly came out warm and crispy. 👍👍

Rump steak was on special (not yellow stickered, just their meat special offer of the day) recently so I picked up a very reasonably priced pack of 2 small rump steaks.

Going to have one tonight and will probably freeze the other (not going to be greedy and eat both, I can make it stretch to 2 meals).

Steak cut chips (from the freezer, done in the air fryer), peas, fried mushrooms.

I will deglaze the pan with some red wine and add some mustard and thyme and butter and resting juices - the steak won't need anything adding to it but it's criminal to waste the fat and juices and just a little bit of red wine & mustard sauce drizzled over me chips will be lovely.

Spicey red lentil. pumpkin and coconut milk soup. I was a bit sceptical about this tbh and mainly made it to use up the pumpkin that was getting a bit soft. I've had a couple of spoonfuls to test it and its bloody gorgeous. So I'll make some flatbreads and have this for lunch . Definitely, be making this again.

Will be pork casserole with mash. I’m making it with pork shoulder and a bit nervous it’s gonna be too fatty, but I’ll leave it in the oven a long time to see if that helps. Will give the gravy good flavour at least.
