What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I didn't do my amatriciana the night before last, and yesterday I had a veggie dinner/breakfast (tortellini with a creamy mushroom sauce) in the morning with OH and a cheese sarnie for lunch, so I didn't need to eat tea.

So I still have that streaky bacon to use so today will have the amatriciana. I won't need a whole tin of tomatoes for 1 portion for myself so I'll also do an arrabbiata sauce which OH can reheat and have with some pasta when he gets in from work tomorrow morning.

I had to look up “Amatriciana” - an excellent word I’m going to try and casually slip into conversation later today.

Seafood Sorta Paella

Reaction given on the basis I do that sort of meal myself quite frequently and love it - if I understand the terminology it means not authentic enough for me to claim I am cooking a paella, but definitely inspired by?

I'm not sure what went wrong. I made basically the same thing a few weeks ago and it was brilliant. There was a workwoman here that time and I gave her a bowl of it and she was raving about it. Oh well.

I wonder if the celeraic hasn't had a good frost? It's been fairly mild here so far.

I was having a bad day yesterday and managed to get shitfaced on lowish alcohol (2%) lager and ended up feeling quite ill, I really don't recommend it, if you're going to get drunk do it fucking properly instead of involving that much liquid.

So dinner did sort of happen, but it wasn't very nice, I think my bacon was on the turn and I couldn't eat much of it :(

OH has a couple of nights off work, so tonight I am cooking a favourite "Fakeaway" (I don't like every bit of newfangled terminology that is floating around these days, but that particular word is perfect for quickly conveying the sort of cooking I will be doing and I have embraced it enthusiastically)

Salt & pepper squid for him (as well as sichuan pepper I have some quite evil red birds eye chillies in the freezer so will be as hot as he wants it!)
Kung pao chicken (with cashews instead of peanuts) for me
Veggie chow mein (mainly involving onions, mushrooms - ordinary field mushrooms and chestnut mushrooms, green peppers)
Egg fried rice
