What's for tea tonight? (#8)

i will not conform to your archaic proscriptive dinnertime rules
tbh, i tend to eat earlier when i'm on my own. i might start making a concentrated effort this week to dinner before nine, and see where that takes me.. :hmm:

*stocks up on seabrooks*

definitely a plan. especially since the only person grumbling about crumbs in the bed will be me for a few days :)

*starfishes out*

a student at my work has made me matar paneer & some rice which is plenty for 2. We shall have that plus some other yet to be decided dish (maybe kabli chaana) plus a fresh naan from the naan shop AKA 'the naanery'. Naans only cost £1 for 4 or £1 for 2 garlic ones & you can phone in your order & go collect.

Just me and I think I'm going to have puy lentil moussaka and the first lot of rapini from the garden.

I just had to google rapini, sounds interesting - is the flavour stronger than PSB?

I am pleased to report that my cooking mojo has returned at last.
Last night we had frittata: bacon lardons, onion, potato, red pepper, eggs and a bit of brie that needed using up.

Tonight will be a curry involving potato, cauliflower, and chickpeas.
I wish I had a nearby 'naanery', sounds ace moonsi

I haven't tried it yet, Boatie, but will let you know!

Wiki says this...'The flavor of rapini has been described as nutty, bitter, and pungent.' which sounds a bit rank :D but I'm very excited about it because it has a short growing time - 60 days - and a very long season so I took the plunge and decided to scrap the psb altogether (I LOVE psb but as you know it takes up a massive amount of room for a very long time and I'm short of space, so this means that in effect I can be eating this from the time that I'd start harvesting psb...but do successional planting and then carry on eating it right through the season  - likewise for Chinese broccoli/Kai-lan, btw, which I'm growing alongside it - plus for you can eat the whole lot - flowers an all, so there's no *bolting* worries like with pak choi etc)!

I'll REPORT BACK!

Some kind of fish, maybe sea bream, baked with a bit of butter and maybe some dill. Roast fennel, peas, potato dauphinois. Maybe some berries or something for pudding.

A salad of spinach, rocket, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado, olives and mozzarella pearls.
With chips. :D

Corr, that sounds lush! My spinach has come up so we had a lovely lunch yesterday of leftover potato salad, cheese, and a salad made with baby spinach leaves, toms, cucumber and spring onions with a balsamic dressing

Made a gorgeous minestrone last night with celery, carrots, onions, garlic, passata, veggie stock, cannelinni beans and savoy, with spinach and ricotta tortini - put a parmesan rind in too - fuck ME it were good.

Tonight...not sure. Maybe a baked tortilla with kidney beans and fresh coriander in, with tomato salsa, sour cream, and guacamole, or homemade pesto and linguine, or a pasta bake with fresh basil and rosemary, and mozzarella, with a salad made from me spinach leaves and homegrown red lettuce. Decisions, decisions...red wine and spliffage first

noodles, tuna, sweetcorn, spring onion. and a tunnocks caramel wafer.
(see, truxta, i'm experimenting with your ways :hmm:)

Last night was roasted tomato soup and a chicken caesar salad.

Tonight will be turkey moussaka.

I'll be interested to hear if that tastes ok and if so the recipe please :) I've experimented with Turkey mince before and I've always found it to be a low fat but vile option  :D

I don't know what I'm having tonight but it will be in the form of a takeaway or something out as I can't be arsed to cook.

Kids are having pizza and salad. Not sure what I'm having :hmm: I've got some rice to use up, so maybe a mushroom stroganoff and some broccoli with that or something. My son wants to show his latest film too (another homework project) so I've said I'll make some popcorn (salted though - yuck :( ) for that later, too.

Oh and Boatie - just to let you know I decided to save the rapini for Sunday when my mum's down (seeing as how she donated the seeds! ) so I still haven't tried it but I WILL let you know then! :D

Going for mrsfran's puy lentil lasagna with salad and whole pickled jalopeno pickles. I will have the same tomorrow too when I'm at work.

Vegetarian feminist teengirls for supper tonight, so it's looking like a spinach and sweet potato curry, puy lentil dahl, and mumbai new potatoes and/or rice. Probably.
