What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Homemade BNS soup and homemade bread. My soups are really hit and miss at the moment. This one has just escaped being a miss by the addition of lots of smoked paprika and whatnot but it's not really a hit either. The bread is delicious as always. Even if I utterly screw it up - like today it threw itself on the floor shortly before I baked it - it's still great.

Pearl barley risotto with leeks and courgette, salad (iceberg, which I wouldn't generally touch with a barge pole, but it provided a nice crunchy texture and welcome freshness) and bread (I might have mentioned the epic neverending loaf...:hmm:, literally the best £4 I have ever spent) with garlic butter.

I had red cabbage and lentil sprouts that needed eating and had tidied-up my kitchen area, so it was the first stir-fry since last summer. The wok needed emery cloth to shift the rust.

In spite of red cabbage, red onions and shredded carrots, it's somewhat lacking in the "red" department because the supermarket had no peppers and I didn't think to buy tomatoes.

I've a feeling this is going to make its presence known all night after months of nursery stew - a good job I didn't put garlic in it.

There seems to be an endless supply of complimentary food for NHS staff atm. Tuesday's and Thursday's there is a company selling half priced pizza. They have a pizza oven set up in the staff car park. On other days we get hog roast or vegan meatball baps.
Tonight I had a margherita pizza £3.50 and I've just cracked a beer open.
