What's for tea tonight? (#8)

homemade leek & potato soup & garlic bread. blackberries and cherries with cream for those that like afters. and peanut butter fudge

Prob' a sammwich walking around a supermarket as we're off to do our shopping in about 20 mins - I fucking hate shopping. :mad:h

Had a bowl of semolina and some poached pears that I poached in ginger ale sweetened with muscovado sugar, following a random suggestion by my mother. She knows her stuff, my old Mum; it was fiiiiiiiine.

Wow, semolina... haven't had that for yonks.
I hadn't had it for yonks either until a few months ago when I bought some for an Italian cake recipe, which turned out rather well. My ten year old niece was here, allegedly helping me to bake. She's a great kid and reads everything she finds and always has questions about whatever it is she's just read. So needless to say she asked me what the recipe was all about on the side of the packet, for semolina pudding. So we whipped up a bit of that and she thought it was absolutely fantastic. And so did I. So I'm on a bit of a retro semolina kick, these days.

Spaghetti and meatballs with mafia sauce, should be my best effort yet as all the ingredients I got are top notch/from the garden/as fresh as possible.

Gonna smoke some weed first tho' so hopefully it wont turn things into a 'I was gonna do.....' and ending up eating sammiches.

i made a tarka daal from some recipe NVP posted the other day, and to go with it, i made a north indian cashew and prawn curry from my anjum cook book. much better than previous efforts, very tasty!

I got some asparagus at lunch from the local farm. For tea probably asparagus cooked on the BBQ followed by Hallumi burgers.

If anyone else is a fan of asparagus there's just one more week of it left (at the local farm anyway) then the season has finished. It's traditionally the summer solstice when the season finishes so the sunshine must have brought the season forward this year.

Chicken Thai greencurry with rice. Lost my appetite due to a snotty cold so hopefully this will help to blast it out :)

Chicken Tikka masala from THIS recipe, except I didn't add the honey.

And I marinated my chicken from THIS recipe.

Defiantely a nice dish.

The chicken bbq'd as a starter is also very nice.

:)

Ended up having a delicious chicken curry courtesy of the margins project at union chapel... cracking venue

I just used what I had in the cupboard/fridge to make a meal - onion, red pepper, mushrooms, garlic, 3/4 of a small tub of creme fraiche, and some dried conchiglie, it was really quite nice.

I am taking advantage of the fact that the kids aren't here* and having a duck breast, with a few jersey royals and a massive pile of veg.

*I am not permitted to eat it when they're here cos my son LOVES DUCKS (and he's roped his sister into the cause) and EATING them is BAD  .....although anything else goes. :hmm: Oh, apart from Easter when there was also a temporary ( ) ban on LITTLE BABY LAMBS. :( *tch*
