We should recognize Lisa Montgomery’s execution for what it was: the vicious, unlawful and unnecessary exercise of authoritarian power. We cannot let this happen again.”

No idea, but I hope/expect the military wouldn't actually do it.Does anyone know how the chain of command and/or legal authority to disobey the POTUS works regarding nuclear attack? In particular in scenarios where the US or any other country is not under an existential threat?
In other words, if a President orders out of the blue to launch a preemptive nuclear strike on Iran ‘’just because’, have the military high command or Congress the right and authority to order those in charge of launching the nukes to belay the presidential order?

hahahaha - but I'm sorry to rain on your parade, the EMP would probably "wipe" most electronic devices - unless they were specifically hardened."Sadly, it later emerged that on the fateful day in question, the random sequence that had been generated was "MAGA2024!" 'The odds were astronomical,' said a researcher who led a mission to retrieve electronic evidence from devices in the Glow Zone."
Joint chiefs phone back and check with the VP, Secretaries of State and Defense, National Security Advisor, ask for more details, stall. Aye, also, there’s always a ‘little’ man like Stanislav Patrov who can think for themselves and put a spanner in the works:Joint chiefs phone back and check with the VP, Secretaries of State and Defense, National Security Advisor, ask for more details, stall. It’s actually illegal under US law to launch a first strike with nuclear weapons so if Trump ordered a nuclear launch the order would be an illegal order and not obeyed.
