What new foods have you tried recently?

Are you supposed to bite into them? I just neck them, like a shot, get all that sea vibe then let it slip down your throat. I thought I would hate them too, but I never chewed on them. but I've only had them fresh and raw, not fried.
How are you with prawns, crabs and lobsters?

chew the oyster.

I've been eating something claiming to be white chocolate crunchy turron, whigh is an almond and honey confection. It most definitely isn't turron, but is rather nice anyway.

angulas - baby eels which the Spanish go mad for.
Like bouncy spaghetti made out of slightly oily fish. not great, not grim. could eat again, but wouldn't choose to.

Just tried some gourmet student 'cooking': tin of Heinz oxtail soup with kale added to it.
Wasn't good. Would not do that again. :(

Um, this was a top standby when I was broke with smalls - only instead of kale, we added peas and potatoes, boiled till it kind of ...dissolved. Surprisingly edible.

Wow, that sounds disgusting :D

I had these last night:

Next time you're in Morrisons, get some. Just do it

Chicken-filled Pao (Chinese steamed bun) made with a bit of ash in, which added woody smoky flavour and turned the whole thing a weirdly metallic grey colour. It was delicious but proof of how much colour affects your taste perception: I kept glancing at the bun, thinking 'that looks odd - I can't eat a robot bun', then comparing the signals from my eyes with others from my tastebuds, which were shouting EAT THE REST OF THE BUN NOW ....

Skirlie (fried oatmeal and onions) - not a new food at all but when served with chilli, onion and mustard seed jam it becomes transformed into something more utterly delicious than you could possibly imagine.

And I have enough for some more tonight - with some smoked venison maybe..? :D

Wasabi peas minus the luminous green dye ...
Surprisingly mild for horseradish.

It makes V8 juice taste funny though. :hmm:

I love these. I slice garlic and fry it in good olive oil, the elvers are fried with a few flames of chilli and some small prawns. It takes about five minutes and is delicious.

I just tried Korean green onion salad.

I made it myself, so it was in no way authentic. I used kashmiri chilli powder instead of korean red pepper flakes, for one.

Even still, it was fully amazeballs! I'm making this again. Lots. It was so good. I love spring onions. I love chilli. I love sesame oil and seeds. I like 'tangy' food. This is my food.

I had it with garlic fried prawns. Lush!

Not my pic, though mine didn't look too dissimilar. The only difference was my red was more uniform, due to the powder over flakes.

Eat this food. You need it. But you don't need one of these:

...a "green onion slice cutter". I don't need one either. I didn't even know they existed 2 hours ago. But I really, really want one now
