What new foods have you tried recently?

Tried that Icelandic greek yogurt Skyr, tastes exactly like Greek yogurt which I like also, slightly cheaper which is nice

what do you like of it? the sharpness or the coherence of the mix? because both of those things are important to me. I like a fruit corner yog as much as the next fellow but if I'm going plain I want plain

I only tried the plain one, it seemed a bit less sharp to me than Greek version when I tried it on its own but I always mix it with honey or jam or nutella anyway and you can't tell the difference after you mix that stuff

I've tried apple juice made with cox apples - some of the nicest apple juice i've tasted, which is good becasue I've got 6 litres of the stuff.

and also rossisky rye bread - wheat free, no added yeast - its lighter in colour and texture and less strong-tasting than the dark rye bread they sell in Lidl but still denser than wheat/rye sourdough. Its good thickly sliced and lightly toasted, not sure about it otherwise.

I was quite disappointed a while back to find out how much fat there is in tempeh - but then the same thing is true about tofu - and oats come to that.

Tried snails for the first time recently. In a Chinese dish with pickled long bean. The snails were chewy and the long bean wasn't pickled enough.

Actually, pickled long bean is another new one...and it's amazing when done well! There's a place near me that does pork mince with pickled long bean and it's lush. Recommended

Also had kale sprouts. Not bad, but I think I undercooked them. Will try again.

Tonight I've just tried taro, in a deep fried 'desert' with sweet potato and some sort of crunchy coating...I guess flour. Very nice. (actually, just asked the chef and she said it's only sweet potato and taro! The crunchyness is just from frying).

Disappointed, why?

Karkli - some kind of lentil snack. Look like churros, but they were much harder/crunchier. Had coriander flavour which were lovely and ghost chilli flavour which were seriously hot! My stomach is in a mess today...I ate way too many (the pub had stopped serving food  )

Sainsbury's 'Well Fired Loaf' the version in my local store is burnt black all over but apparently the level of burnt can vary from store to store.
It is the most delicious bread I have ever tasted!
Internet found image - the price has actually come down to 80 pence..

Now, I am a pasta snob and wouldn't dream of serving this to others, but I do occassionally enjoy cheap and nasty ready meals (Kraft 'Mac & Cheese,' Super Noodles etc...) but this... This is just... Hmpphhdfgdfgdgffgdgfd!!

A quick glance at the ingredients might reveal why. No basil. It's supposed to be pesto ffs!

There was also a new al arrabiata flavour, but I think I'll leave that one on the supermarket shelf.

Cured Venison salami - looked a bit like pogo's pic. Tasted OK.

Black bacon - sweet tasting cured bacon with black pepper. Fucking lush.

Chilli and lime cheddar - very nice.

Red wine and caramelised onion cheddar - same.

Jalapeno pork 'crunch' - very, very moreish.

Oh, and I have some rabbit black pudding in the fridge. Haven't tried it yet :)

Fried pig fat. Turns out to be better than I thought. It's like cubes of fat streaked with pork fried in a normal, dry frying pan.
