What are you having for breakfast?

Chana dahl and pearl barley. I'm quite liking this one as was getting a bit sick of noodles. It's not that conventional to have barley with dahl, but I find it microwaves better then rice and lasts a few days in the fridge where rice goes a bit funny. Downside is I have to cook it in advance, but it's pretty low effort, especially if I have as part of tea night one night.

Sometimes I wish I liked conventional breakfast foods more (that don't involve sausage and bacon).

It's one of those mornings I want strong coffee already. But I'm trying to limit myself to one a day so holding out for a bit longer :(

I want oatcakes now!

Never understood why they weren't more popular outside Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
I live on a street that had an oatcake bakery on it for the first few years we lived here, and it was the dreadful smell of lard that used to put me off, although most places seem to use vegetable oil now. I still find them a bit weird - it's the dampness of them I think. They're fine when they are crispy.

I've had banana and blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning, with a squeeze of lime and a squirt of maple syrup.

I'd quite like that problem.

Back to noodles this morning as it's end of the week and I had nothing prepped. I was quite disappointed when I learnt they are actually fried as part of the preperation process.

I have three new coffees and having tried them individually, I thought today I would have a third of each - so I carefully weighed 3.33g of beans on my dealer's scale into my hand grinder.
I was distracted by a Youtube video, but thought they'd ground amazingly quickly.
So I boil the kettle, put the toast on and pour water on the ground coffee in my Aeropress.
No froth !
So I had to quickly judge by eye another 10g of random beans in a scoop and grind them as quickly as I could and mix them in very late in the brew.
So science has gone out of the window thanks to my early morning arithmetic :p
