What are you having for breakfast?

Have you been barred from the fake sausage shop? :(
Turned out it wasn't real, who knew? :D

I'm away this week, teaching on a conference, and the breakfast options are bread, yogurt, and sugary cereals. I generally try to minimise my carbohydrate intake (hence the fake sausage and egg elements of my usual breakfast) , but that's not an option this week. Meh, I'll live, even if it's a bit boring.

My mam used to regularly eat knickerbocker glory type things but in a long glass dish-like container, covered in aniseed balls and shit loads of black pepper when she was pregnant. Unsurprisingly I love aniseed and black pepper as a result.
Mum used to eat/ lick coal when pregnant with me!....I'm convinced it's why at certain times of the month I crave burnt toast :D
mug of tea?
That goes without saying :D

Muesli, Greek yoghurt and a drizzle of honey. 2 oranges.

Three bags of crisps, two cheese sandwiches. The healthy option, obvs.

Ginger porridge. (One bulb of Opies stem ginger, chopped and mixed into regular porridge, served with a spoonful of the ginger syrup on top, and a splash of oat milk). Stovetop espresso.
Will have to start eating porridge again - got loads in stock. It's probably past it's best before date, but I guess porridge never really goes off.

If the oats have been kept in an airtight container they might go a bit stale but are unlikely to be a hazard to health.
If not in an airtight container though, they provide a great growth medium for mould - so check for musty smells and mould growth, I'd probably not risk it for the sake of a couple of quid if they've not been stored properly.

One lot is still in the sealed bag, the other I decanted into a kilner jar so both should be pretty OK I think. Will sniff them to make sure - as you say, it's not worth mould poisoning for sake of how much porridge costs.

I'm looking forward to cold cereal with whole milk and my personal blend of black and Chai tea; 3 cups is my usual intake
