What are you baking?

I excitedly used my Xmas couche cloth to shape a loaf for the first time last night.

Then promptly forgot about it.

It's now been proving for about 13 hours, lol.

I'm going to see if I can wobble it onto a peel and into the oven (left my baking stone down south :/) but not feeling promising!

A peel?

The thing you see being used to move pizzas into an oven. Also useful if the bread (or object) you want to bake needs to be transferred to a different surface. Like a baking stone - which is very hot (and immobile) inside an oven, with the bread meant to bake directly on top of it.

Edit: tbh, as I typed that, I realised I wasn't using a stone. Still, proving in the couche meant it would've needed to be transferred to something at some point!

I've never made a cake pop but I'm pretty sure they're made from cake off cuts, mixed up with other stuff to make a ball formable mix which you can stick on a stick and decorate then eat like a lollipop.

I've made them, they're baked in balls. I've got a cake pop tray with ball shapes.

You can make cake pops with off cuts and no need for moulds - blitz the off cuts into crumbs, make butter / cream cheese frosting and mix up until it's a consistency you can mould that will hold shape. Roll into balls and chill or freeze for a bit. If you want you can dip in melted chocolate afterwards.

Happy new year bakers. What do you think would be nicer: coffee cake with chocolate icing or chocolate cake with coffee icing?
