What are you baking?

Thanks anyway! I think they are damsons, having googled, but I'm going to try to make slivovitz to give as presents. But there are so fucking many of them :D I'll probably be making jam but we're still eating last year's....
Slivovitz sounds lush! mango5 used my leftover damsons to make damson gin curd, it was delicious.

Have you got a big freezer? I freeze mine.

Thanks :) dairy free is done, I'll ice it tonight. Gluten and dairy free is in the oven. Must excise careful separation. Just the three tiered monster to go.
 
Friend went on a baking course some time back. Now produces astounding loaves.

After seeing him last weekend (he brought three loaves), could no longer resist bannetons. This one is a whopper, unfortunately - 1.5kg. So even if I take half of it into work, won't get to make TOO many attempts each week.

Bit disappointed about the crack across the top (expansion should've been absorbed by the non-expanded slit visible on the side), but my lame just hasn't got the depth to properly handle a loaf this size.

Though I'm probably just doing it wrong.
 
I think plum season is finally over :hmm: This year I have given away six large carrier bags full and made:
  • a plum and almond cake
  • plum gingerbread
  • four plum crumbles
  • four batches of plum and cinnamon squares
  • three litres of slivovitz (actually my Czech friend sneered and said it wasn't slivovitz but plum flavoured vodka, but who the fuck cares, it smells like Christmas)
  • a buttload of jam.
Amazingly, I still love plums :thumbs:

Anyone local with a similar problem might like to offload some plums (or other fruit) onto me... My jam cupboard is bare except for some overly shreddy marmalade :eek:
