What are you baking?

Buns, using half the slow rising dough from last night plus leftover mincemeat.

Me and my girl made a ton of cupcakes (dark chocolate with chocolate fudge icing and white chocolate icing) for my son's 16th bbq birthday party last night.
Daughter decorated (pic is technically upside down so you can't properly see the smiley face and the '16' she did amongst others)

Amazeballs, and also  that your son is 16!

I made some chocolate coconut macaroons the other day and they turned out pretty damned good. Not the fancy french kind. The chewy messy kind like these: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1783633/coconut-macaroons

Now I think they could be really nice with rose water instead of vanilla essence and a drop or two of red food colouring to make them pretty and pink.

I'm in two minds though whether to stick with dark chocolate for decoration or to try white chocolate. Any thoughts?

Rose macaroons total fail! They don't taste of rose and the red food colouring made them an unappetising shade of purple. Think I'll try orange next.

Squidgy spiced apple cake...my apples and honey from a friends hives in Greece up a mountainside...it could go horribly wrong.

Plum and white chocolate traybake today... made it a fortnight ago for son's party, and though it tasted delicious, it got somewhat burned around the edges when I cooked according to instructions. It said add plums to top at 20 minutes, but it was almost cooked through at that; put them in 5 mins earlier and overall cooked for 10 mins less than suggested. I've now altered the timings on the recipe so I don't forget next time. Basically, my mum in law 'commissioned' one for Rosh Hashanah tea tomorrow, so I have done my duty. :)

Chocolate pecan brownies. Put little chunks of fudge in a couple of trays but I'm not sure you can actually taste it over the huge amount of sugar they contain anyway.

a Victoria sponge. This took ages, 2 sandwich tins won't fit on the same shelf in my oven. The one on the bottom shelf came out blackened underneath so I had to make another batch of cake mixture for that one layer.

Tonight I made cinnamon buns

I want to eat them all!
Was the first time I've ever made them and I'd say it's a success. I had to use wholemeal flour for them and they're not as gooey and doughy as I might like but I think white flour and a little more butter will solve that next time.

Eating two in one go is not so bad really...

And seen as I'm here, I did recently make a good coffee cake

My first attempt. I'm not a big fan of buttercream or sticky frosting but I made this for somebody's birthday as they love those things and coffee. I thought it was alright but a bit too sweet (did taste good and coffee-like though), he fucking loved it!
