Practise and reuse = top tips, thank youOhhh exciting! You can practice on the back of a plate and reuse the icing, so long as it doesn't dry.

My daughter's coming home for a couple of days and so I've made hot cross buns for breakfast. I used tangzhong method and they are so soft and fluffy. Can't wait to try one.

ETA: Just looked up tangzhong. Eeenteresting...
They didn't last long! Once back from the station the hoards descended and snaffled them up.Now update the photo so we can check they are all still there!
I don't normally eat them but could certainly be tempted by those.
I keep meaning to give milk rolls using that method a try, someone posted a recipe a while back and I've saved it ready for when I have the time/inclination!
They look fantastic. Well doneView attachment 318638
More buns. These are even better than last time. I doubled the mix and still made a dozen, so we have proper fat ones.
The baking stakes seem high this Easter.
I have my kids over on Sunday.
Going to make olive and pepper bread. Plus some sort of apple pudding with pastry or possibly cake.
Yeah. Cram the pastry full of butter. A little fresh custard under the apple. If you have a hob to oven suitable dish, tarte tatin would be a very tasty apple/pastry classic
(With some vanilla ice-cream or non dairy substitute, especially if this gorgeous weather holds!)
