welfare state breakdown

Fuck help anyone if you WERE a doctor - can you imagine trying to get a sick note!

if, in my clinical opinion, you were unfit, i would issue a sick note

if, in my clinical opinion, i could not find evidence of condition(s) affecting your ability to work, i would not

sick notes are there as evidence of ill health and of the medical opinion that the person should refrain from work

they are not a meal ticket

but i am not a doctor. so its all academic and not on topic

:)

neither are the people who conduct medicals right now, so don't feel left out.

It’s a bit of myth I reckon that their position is due to them not being aware of the level of suffering. More that they have a different take when it comes to the extent to which that suffering should be mitigated. It may just be case that their position is closer to the “average” punter’s view, and you harbour an eccentric compassion perhaps through some sentimental identification with the weak or otherwise inept. ‘course it ties in with some arbitrary idea of innocence and guilt and moral choice. If you could find some stain on their character, even if limited only to their abhorrent opinions on this-or-that, their suffering would be fair game no doubt.

Oh don’t tell me you’re another sanctimonious bastion of righteousness who believes 40% of the electorate are indecently selfish. It really is like a western with plucky underdog goodies and bully boy baddies in there isn’t it.

It is! It's Mr Logic from Viz!!

The polls say the Tories are gonna get in, so it's probably not far off 40% of the electorate being selfish cunts.

Indeed, I could do the incapacity medical 'doctor's job, all that is required is to fail the applicant as a fakey cake baker . I would guess they fail about 80percent at least

Next time I'll be taking a digital camera. The guy who declared me fit to work last year (citing things like "he doesn't look depressed") was listed on the report as exactly the same name as the doctor who examined me two years before. Yet it wasn't the same bloke. The BMA only have a record of one doctor with that name.

Next time I take a photo and if I'm not happy that it's a proper medical the photo and name go to the BMA to check that it was really a doctor, because I'm absolutely certain the last one wasn't.

Are they supposed to be proper doctors though? I can never work out.

wonder what would happen to me if i went around claiming to be a doctor...

Carousel has said this, no one else and he keeps saying it as though they did. The Tories were described as being selfish and he decided that this must mean 40% of the electorate are selfish because they will vote for them.

It's a lot of bollocks.

Eh? I don't think Tories are particularly selfish. I'm just exploring the implications of the bizarre Victorian belief that politics revolves around some deliberation on our obligation to life’s least fortunate. The self defeating notion of class conflict as the conflict between the master-morality of the elite versus the slave-morality of the, well, slave.

Like I said, a lot of bollocks

Oh nice. I think you'll find that you get a lot more contradiction from the other posters. Seeing as most of the assertions made here are essentially contestable matters of justice, there’s no viable grounds for contradiction anyway. What’s intriguing is how you read contradiction, antagonism, hostility, all that those negative vibes, into what are really just exploratory questions of what you think, believe or otherwise imagine. Not that it’s unusual. Probing strongly held beliefs that’ve become intermingled with a whole sense of self causes distress or offence. I doubt you’re interested to know why. I’m not challenging your beliefs, just getting you to set them out, to replay them in your head, is enough to fill you full of shame at their absurdity. Hence the angry little tantrum above. Bless your heart.

So boring you feel compelled to respond. Don’t tell me you’re bipolar as well. There's a lot of it about.

I wouldn't try that if I was you unless you can keep it hidden.
The doctors(?) have been told that if a recording of the examination is being made to cut it short and leave. Same with cameras I should think. I believe if you keep notes that can be construed as acting in bad will!

How how convincing. You'd no doubt prefer some trite exposition on good and evil.

Actually, he'd probably just prefer it if you had some freak accident that left you permanently unable to operate a computer, so he wouldn't have to soil his eyes by reading your contributions.

"This green and pleasant land...this England!"

you know, this smacks of the stupid chanting on the terraces

at the risk of being called a nazi

if you dont like it, fuck off

next you are going to say.. "the solution to pollution is dilution" or some other imbecilic raving

Everyone sounds mental. I'm fast coming to the conclusion there's a lot of disabling neurosis in the political wing of the internet. "Well, Duh!" I hallucinate someone getting ready to type. Why is everyone so mean? (Especially when they pride themselves on their super-compassion at the detached level of social policy).
