Urban75 Album of the Year 2013 - The Results

I didn't vote so I can't really complain, but Yo La Tengo and Steve Mason are sadly absent from the list.

Have you been "voting often" belboid ?

Very surprised Bowie didn't even get into the list, decent list though I still maintain that last year was a lot stronger overall.

Did anyone apart from me rate British Sea Power's Machineries of Joy?

I liked it but not as much as Valhalla.

15 Kanye West – Yeezus

Apparently people have voted for a Kanye West album. I am sure it is a jolly good Kanye West album.
lol :D i feel the same way

new discovery of the list for me is Charles Bradley - Victim of Love <great stuff. might get this for someone for xmas

anyhow, hats off belboid

Really appreciate all the work you put into this. Its the only Album of the Year thing that I ever pay attention to. And I listen to every single track. Thanks.

Great stuff belboid, a stirling job as always. I always look forward to the Urban album of the year list and always discover someone new because of it (or finally get round to listening to someone I should have listened to ages ago), so I really appreciate the work that goes into it. And what a year! I am totally fucking overjoyed to have an album anywhere near the chart and would have been delighted with somewhere in the top 30, so number 12 is amazing. I'm off to investigate everything else now...

My ten were
1. By the rivers By the rivers
2. Death Grips – Government plates
3. Queens of the stone age – Like Clockwork
4. Ruby My Dear - Form
5. The Flatliners – Dead Language
6. Om Unit - Threads
7. Shaggy – Out of many, one music
8. Gentleman’s Dub Club – FOURtyFOUR
9. Machinedrum – Vapor City
10. Daft Punk – Random Access Memories

But fuck me, my bloody valentine at number 3?! really urban? really?

I totally forgot the congo natty album came out this year too.

Only one of my votes made it into the top ten...... I clearly am far too hip for urban :D

I am going to write my top ten up on me blog anyway, ill chuck a link up when I get round to doing it.

not a sod, iirr
I'm quite surprised Low did so well, it's a Low album so of course it's good but I don't think it comes near their best work.
I think its a combination of them gradually picking up fans, it being a good but not absolutely stellar year, but mostly Mimi's vocals have brought them to a bit of a wider audience and gainede them some new fans.
best list in years tbh. how many people voted?
trade secret! But about 40
No Disclosure? :hmm:
just the one I think, certainly not more than a couple
Thanks for doing it for us again Belboid, great stuff. Can you give us a list of all the albums that were voted #1 please, as you have done before.

QotSA at number 3? Really Sim, really?

Its a fucking good album.

However I have just realised Im getting my bloody valentine and my chemical romance confused.

I think I'd probably knock Daft Punk out of the list, and stick congo natty in mine at number 3

Like others I'm surprised to see Low so high up the list. I'm a big fan and I haven't even checked out the latest album yet but will certainly do so.... Low's show at ATP last month was one of my top gigs of the year for sure.

doh! I knew there'd be one.....not having originally noticed that there were two Asphodells albums nominated, I initially put them both together (which gave it a decent bump), and somehow thought that Remixed was the popular one. I wrote a hilarious post about how you were all weird for voting for that, but not the original, but then thought I better go back and check, and realised my mistake. i thought I'd corrected the track tho...
