Urban75 Album of the Year 1991

Might as well try to put together a list now, although I never got an answer as to whether Revolution Girl Style Now and They've Scoffed the Lot are eligible.

8 and 9 tracks respectively got to be albums
8 tracks can totally be an album, 8 Godspeed tracks would be like four albums or something. Only reason I was unsure about They've Scoffed the Lot was cos it's a compilation of radio sessions, but I think it was the first time those songs were released as recordings, so that feels a bit different to just being a best-of or whatever? I can see how the ruling on the Bikini Kill could go either way, but it would feel weird not to include it?

Anyway, if anyone hasn't voted yet and can't remember the name of the Wonder Stuff album that came out in 1991, it's Never Loved Elvis. Happy to help.

my advice in such moments is do whatever you want to do - it doesnt really matter ;)

One of the biggest tunes for me in 1991 was We Are E

Was just reading this by the tracks producer Lennie last night - pretty touching story

Just spotted this was 1991
Its really great and very listenable album overall but as its a soundtrack you get a few repetitions and ambient bits that makes sense for filmscore
seems quite overlooked considering how much people pour over Miles Davis stuff

never seen the film - Miles is in it

I watched the opening scene from this recently (maybe someone posted it here? or maybe on twitter), which features Miles' character Billy Cross performing a red-hot impromptu jazz gig on an airfield. That's worth watching, dunno about the rest of the film though...

Some unexpected results in there, but you can't argue with the voting public.

My god, your taste is all bloody terrible. It's made me physically sick for a fortnight!

None of you, not a single one, recognised the greatest album ever made in any way shape or form. Ooutbloodyrageous.

Or to put it another way....sorry for the delay, I have now totted up and will be posting up the results later today. Unless the pub intervenes,

Is it...

I was mystified at the time and remain mystified to this day why Nevermind made Nirvana the biggest rock band in the world.
It didn't. It was the video for Smells Like Teen Spirit that did made them into a big deal and Kurt's suicide that made us remember them as being a slightly bigger deal than they actually were.

Not a single person put Peggy Suicide on their list? Really?

I hereby submit my list for consideration:

1. Julian Cope - Peggy Suicide

Remember me in your will.

Here we go then, the much anticipated final list......

And we start with a tie, the only tie in the whole thing, surprisingly.
