Urban75 Album of the Year 1991

Coil wasn't far off the bottom of the list, Talk Talk were nowhere though.

I can't believe not one other person voted for the Teenage Fanclub or the Richard Thompson though.

Just for the record, I actually do think Peggy Suicide is the best album of 1991. Although "all time" is another matter.

This was my list in case anyone cares about what I was listening to when I was 21

Nevermind – Nirvana

Black Album – Metallica

The White Room – KLF

Out Of Time – REM

Mama Said – Lenny Kravitz

Blue Lines – Massive Attack

Schuberts Dip – EMF

The Sky Is Falling And I Want My Mommy – Jello Biafra and No Means No

Woodface – Crowded House

Leisure – Blur

Ten – Pearl Jam

Screamadelica – Primal Scream

Blood Sugar Sex Magik – RHCP

Orbital (The Green Album) – Orbital

Loveless – My Bloody Valentine

30 Something – Carter USM

A bit embarrassed about my list. Just things I've liked for decades and most of that doesn't even sound 1991. Meh. Nirvana deserved to win though IMO.

The Ex & Tom Cora - Scabbling at the Lock
Nirvana - Nevermind
Iva Bittová - Iva Bittová
Public Enemy - Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Black
Lindsay Cooper - Oh Moscow
Shub-Niggurath - C'Etaient De Tres Grands Vent
Dunaj - Rosol
Fred and Ferd - Dropopera
Lindsay Cooper - An Angel on the Bridge
Robert Wyatt - Dondestan

Saw average joe mention Mama Said – Lenny Kravitz - forgot all about that album existing, listened to that a lot in 91! With all his money and massive scarves its weird he stopped making music.... ETA: just looked, he hasnt actually, had an album in 2018...single sounds very Radio 2

What I want to know is, did anyone actually have the courage and good taste to vote for the Wonderstuff? Edit: Also, blimey, a poor showing for Slint. Admittedly, I didn't vote for them, but I would've expected some people to?

Anyway, although Live Through This might technically be "a different album to Pretty on the Inside" and "have come out in 1994", might as well put this here on account of how we've all just voted Pretty on the Inside to have been the best album of 1991:

Quite interesting, although a shame they didn't bother licensing any relevant music and so it's just introduced with some weak string jolliness when they could've had Violet.
