urban landmark: the 10 millionth post is nearly here!

I think this got it :D

How do you know? I posted something on the proverbs thread at the same time. Although to be fair if it was Machine Cat's post, it's fully deserving. :D

Huh? Don't get it.

take the number of posts we're at now (10,000,050 or something) and look at the most recent post number (top right corner of every post, click on the number and look at the number at the end of the URL) then count back 50 from the post number in the URL

I think it's fucking brilliant that the 10,000,000th post was a post asking if a previous post was the 10,000,000th post.

Urban for the win & the loss at the same time.

ETA Unless I've got it wrong and it's just me that's the loser. Again. :(:):D

OK, so talk me through this, the alleged winner, "Get?" is numbered 11653627. How does that help me?

ok, at the time i'm writing this post, the front page is saying 10,000,091 posts (though obviously that will have changed by the time you read this). at that same moment, the most recent post was this one from diddlybiddly, that has the post ID of 11,657,718. what you then do is subtract 91 (the amount of posts we are over 10,000,000) from 11,657,718 to get the number 11,653,627 for the number of the 10 millionth post. that was machine cat's.

obviously the number of posts made and the post ID of the most recent post will change each time a new post is made, but you can use the same method to work it out.

I don't think I care enough to do that.
