Berns was an adult who placed herself in the public eye and dedicated her life to opposing trans rights saying some truly vile things in the process and whose virulence led her to become a martyr for the anti-trans cause. Even so I'm not aware of her family needing a police escort to her funeral. Rowling is one of the richest people in the world who has an army of lawyers she readily uses to silence criticism of her along with millions of online followers she frequently mobilises against trans people and allies resulting in them receiving a torrent of bullying and abuse.
The people being discussed were children and grieving families, not high profile campaigners or billionaires backed by the might of the right wing press you fucking ghoul.
What's the difference? Far right transphobes often call themselves gender critical and have been largely embraced by the movement. They go to the same protests, follow and signal boost each other on social media, hang out together to bully trans people on sites like kiwi farms and insist that you don't have to be left wing or a feminist to be gender critical, it's all one big family now.
Do you think that no one has threatened to rape Rowling, or that they have and that's actually ok?
Because the threat of rape against any woman, no matter how serious the threat, or how powerful and untouchable you may think the recipient is, is a message to all women that they deserve to be raped, or threatened with it, if they behave in the wrong way.
I don't think this is a true, and a search of twitter would provide you with lots of evidence of division among people whom you would categorise as GC.
One tends to be cis women and the other tends to be cis men.

Five or six years ago maybe, not now. Who knows who is behind a lot of the most virulent anonymous GC accounts. Polling consistently shows men are more likely to have gender critical views than woman and this was backed up by the courts on the Allison Bailey case.
Certainly not with fash. And who are the high profile male CG who get it in the neck? I can think of Graham Linehan and that’s about it.
Of course it's real and not okay. The misogynist abuse and violent threats all women, including trans women, receive online from those who object to their opinions is not okay and reflects how far society has to go to tackle misogyny.
But that's a completely different issue to mobs of gender critical people bombarding grieving families with abuse, harassing teenagers and leaking details of children's funerals, which is what was being discussed on this thread.

Kinda undermines the claims that the police and CPS have been captured by the 'trans lobby' and are going round charging people with transphobic hate crimes just for knowing what a woman is. You can literally be accused of murdering a trans child after making a string of transphobic slurs and still not be charged with a hate crime.
