Transgender hate crimes recorded by police go up 81%

That Reduxx article about Khelif is blatant lies and a horrific breach of medical ethics, but of course Rowling bought into it, and so did Mumsnet.

Lack of funding is what could destroy women's sports, not Banda, but JKR knows fuck all about football so she wouldn't know that. Meanwhile, loads of male footballers liked Memphis Depay's vile post defending Benjamin Mendy. Did JKR ever mention Mendy? Greenwood? Ronaldo? Goodwillie? Partey, who's still playing for Arsenal?

If they actually used their fucking brains for five minutes they'd realise there was something wrong. I mean, these people bring up GDPR all the time and France falls under the remit of GDPR, I do loads of medical translation work, French is one of my languages and so many companies have the big data disclaimer on their websites, and hospitals in particular have to do a big spiel about how they handle personal data. I should know, I've translated enough of them. Releasing Khelif's medical records is a serious breach of medical ethics and if someone at the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital did that, they should be fired. Leaking medical records is a serious crime in France and can get you fined AND banged up. And this is assuming it even happened. Kremlin-Bicêtre is in Paris, not Algeria, and different names have been associated with the leak. It's not consistent. But no, it fits Mumsnet's narrative so they all believe it, same as they continue to believe their kids' classes are full of teens who think they're animals. Because if we let girls think they're boys, they'll be identifying as animals next. Slippery slope bullshit.

Someone posted more deets on Enough JK Rowling. And big surprise, JKR claims to be pro-Jewish but forgot the bit where the editor of Reduxx defended an actual fucking Nazi.

Ok, it's not a hate crime and Disney is more inclusive than others, but why erase the character's identity?

With all the transphobia, anti woke and anti DEI rhetoric emanating from the incoming US administration... perhaps this is a sign of what's to come? Companies being scared of showing support?

Of course, cynically speaking should always be wary of corporate support... but there are plenty of LGBTQ people in Disney who are passionate about inclusivity. And Disney didn't back down when Ron DeSantis went to war with them. What's changed?

It is so very Disney.

It is so corporate.

Most Disney people probably are fine with gay or trans stuff. Probably even think it is kinda worth having.

But not if it changes the bottom line

Especially as the movies are financially only advertising for the parks when it comes to make them money.

And when it comes to making money no gay or trans character is going to compete with micky or elsa or han solo.

They will promote and probably even enjoy gay days but they will never realky turkey try something that could seriously damage them.

Disney is the business version of your racist gran. Kinda hateful in practice but in a way that doesn't cause arguments around the dinner table.

Think this might as well go here, unless there's another trans thread it's better suited to:

Zoe Watts is a trans woman being held on the men's wing of HMP Peterborough.

She has a GRC, a female birth certificate, and in 2021 the same prison put her in with the other women where she could mix freely.

This time, she's kept in her cell 23 1/2 hours a day because the screws say she's not safe around male prisoners - but they won't move her. To make their job easier, they are deciding whether to move her to the male mental health unit or in with the male sex offenders.

We want to begin applying pressure publicly for them to move her to the women's wing. The first step is showing HMP Peterborough that she's not alone on the outside. They need to know that we're watching, and even when transphobic state violence happens behind locked doors, we're willing to fight back.

Please come and join Zoe's friends + chosen family at Lincoln Crown Court on the first day of her hearing to make a lot of noise, in solidarity with her + all trans prisoners. Bring loved ones + loud things!

A bunch of teens stabbed a trans woman and prosecution are arguing she had it coming because she lied about being trans. I'm not fucking surprised she lied. They were calling her 'it' and all sorts.
Yet more evidence that it aint trans people who are the danger.

So trans people can't win, then. Tell the truth about their identity and they're flaunting it. Lie and they're being deceitful. So fucked up.

I truly believe the right-wing media putting the boot into the trans community would be doing the same to the rest of the LGBT umbrella if they thought they could get away. These are the same people who were running 'be afraid of gay men working with kids' type stories back in the day.

That's the name of the game behind all the transphobia. The far right spotted how they could use trans identity as a lever to split the left and enrage the right ('attack on women's rights', 'look at this one trans sex offender, they're all like that', 'mutilating children!') and once they're squished trans rights, you know what happens next.

'Would you really want a gay man teaching your son?', 'Look at this gay paedophile!' Etc.

I feel like it's already happening. And yes, Christian conservatives in the US have stated it's their endgame - get trans people first, then go after LGB people.

Pretty directly reflected in Meta's new rules isn't it.

I feel, maybe naively, that the UK would be more resistant to turning on the LGB (and the fact remains most people aren't anti trans but also don't feel roused to support them either sadly). We don't have the Christian 'gay sex makes God angry' thing here and when a generation has grown up with many knowing people with same sex parents (though obviously it'll be much more common in Brighton than Barnsley, for example) I think it gets harder to turn back the tide of acceptance. Doesn't mean they won't try though.
