Tory minister for civil society Brooks Newmark resigns after sex scandal

Brooks Newmark is the person here who who decided he has done wrong. I haven't seen anyone here arguing they have a right to interfere in his private life. I haven't seen anyone here writing a story on him in the mirror.

Pathetic demands for private life to be kept alone whilst they interfere in a far more damaging manner in the most private affairs of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of other people is one of the ways they keep getting away with it. Not just the small things, the large things. Making them untouchable, making a series of corruptions, a series of lies, a network of deceit, you help them by pretending they're human - that they're just like us. Fuck that - mug yourself if want. Count me out. They are the people who made sure the very idea of private has been diminished and debased to such an extent that people are actually killing themselves. Ok, they wanted to play the game of morals. Let's play it.
It just... it's just fucking cruel humiliating his wife like that.

Nomark was up for more than just cock pics though....according to the Mirror...

While campaigning in Clacton today ahead of the upcoming by-election he sent a text asking the reporter if she would like to meet him at this week’s Conservative Party Conference, writing: “Afternoons fairly full with speaking engagements but around late evenings. Promise we’ll meet up though. X.”

Dave's just gotta love that whole quote....omishitstorm doesn't even come close. No wonder we're at war.

You think it's okay to destroy someone's marriage, to wield that social moral judgement media power? I think it stinks.

I know fuck all about the bloke or his wife or his policies. But I don't think he should be destroyed on that basis.

if being caught sending cock pix will destroy his marriage, he perhaps shouldn't have been sending cock pix out. it's him that chose to risk his marriage.

Odious prick that he would appear to be, I think the issue is whether the state of his marriage one way or the other should be a matter of public discussion, and/or a resignable offence.

I'm honestly not sure; generally I think people's private lives are just that, but as above, I can't help feeling that if you subscribe to Tory values...

tbh if he can't show good manners no place as minister for civil society

Yes. Yes he should. But I won't be stood here rubbing my hands together at another woman's misery. It's just all sordid and all your glee about it all is sordid. Yuck.

what nonsense. no one has done that.

he's part of an organisation with a dubious attitude towards women and a reputation for hypocracy in promoting moral values because of the number of them who have been caught with their pants down after telling other people how to live.

What business of that is yours or anyone else's? Leave him, his wife and the other women involved alone.
I think you have a good point. Unless he's done something that will directly impact on his ability to do his job properly, is it really any of our business if he has had an affair? It seems a peculiarly British thing to want to know about other peoples' sex life when it really is none of our business. However, if it exposes hypocrisy, or impedes his ability to do his job, or he's been doing something illegal then it should be exposed.

Attack his policies and moral bullshit then. Not that it'll make any difference. But don't go attacking the Tories for promoting social conservatism by enforcing that kind of moral policing yourselves.

or prove it's hypocracy.

as i've said, he should have thought about the effect of his behavior before acting.

if he wasn't part of an organisation with shitty attitudes, no one would really give a shit. but i think the antics of major's government proved that it's those who moralise loudest that believe rules are for other people, not special snowflakes like them.

Yes he should have thought about his actions, but how many times do we all do things without actually thinking through the results of our actions, especially when emotions are involved?

sex scandals are not in any way peculiarly british. What an odd thing to say.

I hate that as much as you. I just hate the way that the press destroys people via their personal life too.

loads of people do, then tory cunts tell them they are shit for doing that. we then tell tory cunts they are shit for trying to moralise at others for the stuff they do themselves.

I don't know many people who haven't fucked shit up pretty badly one way or another.

yep. ideally, it should be no one elses business who anyone does whatever with, other than whoever he's doig it with, and his committed partner, if they are not one and the same person. but when moralising tory cunts make other people's sex lives their business, then it becomes fair game to show them up for the hypocritical fuckwads they really are.

So he gets replaced by some other Tory cunt with the same politics, it's not like there's a shortage of them. Nothing about this will change their behaviour, and for that matter their actions don't actually affect whether they are cunts or not for promoting cuntish policies - they could be complete exemplars of the ethics they claim and they'd still be cunts because those policies are intrinsincally bad.

And he's not been fired for being a hypocrite has he? He's been fired for being in an "embarrassing situation", an extra-marital affair. All this promotes is the idea that those are the only things that matters. Nothing political counts and causes an MP's immediate resignation, it's only sending dick pics.
