Tony Benn to run again?

Benn's an embarrassing prat. Bangs on about direct action and the diggers whilst also believing in parliamentary sovereignty.

His interview persona is just bizarre. Whatever the question his answer always includes:

Munich and appeasement
the suffragettes
peasants revolt
"I was in the Cabinet with..."
"When I was a boy I campaigned in the 1847 General Election.."
The Chartists
The Miners

All a bit odd when somebody just asked if he wanted sugar in his tea..

Plus his perennial joke: 'You know, there have always been some socialists in the Labour Party, just as there have always some Christians in the Church of England.'

Saw him on ch 4 news and John Snow made some quip about him previously 'leaving parliament to do socialism' - so why was he coming back? He got all pompous and said something along the lines of 'never make fun of democracy'. Strangely enough, the interview came to a fairly abrupt halt.

He's in his anecdotage. It goes down well, though. How many politicians could fill halls around the country to hear them talk, as Benn did on his tour a couple of years ago?
