For what it's worth I'm really not sure I agree that Russia is best looked at through a 'decolonial' framework like eg UK and India, parts of Africa etc. as some people are suggesting.

I do wonder if we might need to do something along the lines of revitalising CND seeing the blasé talk of "tactical nukes".

I was at a thing last night where the compere referred to a woman as a 'twink'. Me and my oldster friends were like :hmm:.
Hmm... what is this new meaning of "twink" then? Did the compere refer to any women there as a "bear" etc?

Was not expecting this turn of events, but it seems like we're now dangerously close to having a round of "is it appropriation for bi women to use the terms butch/femme?" discourse break out here.
It was a transwoman using it about a cis, straight woman if that helps any? (I've never heard it used about a woman before which was kind of my point about how out of touch I obvs am :(.)

Yeah, I feel like it's not that unusual in (some) queer circles for people to kind of play around with gendered terminology like that? I dunno, I don't call that many women twinks on a day-to-day basis but I wouldn't immediately raise an eyebrow at it, I think I know at least one theyfab who uses the term?

Indeed. I have never heard it used in real life. But I did hear it on an American sit com (possibly Grace and Frankie) when an older gay character was worried about his partner getting a younger lover. The younger man was the twink.

From your anecdote I deduce the term has broadened to include other sexualities and gender identities. It seems a bit ageist though.

I thought it described someone with like a young looking slim physique, not necessarily young tho? I'm no expert in these things tho lol. And nah I don't think it's ageist.

American wrapped cake. Like small Swiss roll with synthetic cream filling.
Twinkies they are pure calories devoid of nutritional content (and disgusting)
Tbh I'm not really that involved in 'the queer community' at all I didn't even know what a twink was until a couple of years ago I think.
I still don't and going by this conversation I have zero desire to find out

Like I say, my sole experience of the term is an American sitcom and this thread today.

My sole experience of fashjacket is the AF Twitter feed which I saw today. I don’t think I’ll be saying twink or fashjacket.

(I rarely if ever understand the AF Twitter feed and never read it unless it’s brought to my attention for some reason).
